Strengths: Bang for the buck
Weakness: Cabinet seems cheap
This subwoofer has been a great addition to my system adding some needed depth and punch to lower frequencies. I never knew what I was missing when a plane would fly over or some lower strings would start to play in the background. I especially like how flexible and adjustable this sub is with multiple hook-up possibilities, auto on/off, and variable cut-off. A steal at $60 from Amazon.
Strengths: Amazing deep bass and multiple connection types in the back. Good price for the power output.
Weakness: Quite large and bulky. The "power-save" feature kept turning it on and off depending on the commercial on TV, which was annoying, so I turned this feature off.
A solid subwoofer. Sony usually makes pretty good products (with the exception of the crappy PS3), and this subwoofer compliments my home theater system nicely.
Strengths: Nice thump for theater-like movie watching in your home.
Weakness: This could be my fault, but when I switch on the auto power, once it turns itself off it will not come back on once I turn on my receiver.
If anyone reading this can help me with the auto-on/off feature, please reply. This unit really sounds good and deep. I was using a passive sub before so this is way different. I would buy this again. The wife is constantly asking m eot turn it down.
Strengths: good price, auto shut off
Weakness: minimum needs met
I wanted a proper subwoofer after buying my new expensive stereo however was more limited on price so went with this model and feel that it meets my needs enough although I would prefer to have more wattage.
Strengths: Large, standard controls
Weakness: Doesn't give you that room-rockin' bass
Purchased this subwoofer for a pretty good price on Amazon, and while it doesn't rock the apartment as much as my home subwoofer, this adds enough bass for me to enjoy my gaming and movie watching experience. Pretty good price/performance ratio!
Strengths: It produces good bass at a very affordable price
Weakness: The black color does not really go with the other silver speakers in my system.
I needed a subwoofer for my onkyo receiver I bought after my panasonic home theater in a box unit stopped working. The panasonic subwoofer had a cable designed just for the unit so I needed a new subwoofer that would fit the standard rca jack on the onkyo. After searching online, I came across the sony saw2500 subwoofer. It was under $100 yet it was 10" and handled 150 watts. So far, I am pleased...
Strengths: More than enough bass for most rooms
Weakness: No glaring deficiencies
Disclaimer: I am not an audiophile, but I do understand that subwoofers are more to be felt than heard, and in that regard, I don\\\'t see much wrong with this Sony. I suppose if you have a 50-foot long viewing room, it may be underpowered, but it\\\'s been more than enough for my average-sized family room. Hookup is the same as most other SW\\\'s. It\\\'s basic black, usually not an issue if...
Strengths: Features for Price!
Weakness: "Boomie"
This is a great sub-woofer for the price! The technical specs and features are better than many subwoofers twice the price. Although it's a little "boomie" the ability to set the frequency higher or lower helps. 85 bucks at Circuit City was a steal! Grab one while you can!
Strengths: Solid Bass Reproduction, Powered Subwoofer, Power-Saving Mode, Easy Hook-Up to A Surround Sound Receiver
Weakness: None found.
I purchased this unit as a needed replacement for a $300 JBL subwoofer that I had for about 10 years that finally blew a fuse. I found this new Sony SA-W2500 unit to be of at least equal quality at less than one-third the price I paid for the earlier subwoofer. I paid $85 with free shipping from Amazon.com, although the price has gone up to $99 since then. $99 seems to be about the going rate on...
The Sony SA-W2500 is a standalone performance subwoofer designed to work alongside a surround-sound system. It features an advanced bass-reflex design with an 8” driver, all of which is enclosed in the 10” woofer frame. And it weighs only 22 lbs, making it easy to carry from one location to another. Despite its diminutive demeanor, the SA-W2500 can in fact output up to 100W of power;...

Great Value
Strengths: Provides an exellent bass boost
Weakness: na
For about $70 this is a great subwoofer. Bass sounds great! Sony is a quality manufacturer and 150 watts is pleanty for most people. The subwoofer comes with a 6ft audio cable.
