Strengths: Good quality; light; good form factor; but most importantly... it is a LEARNING REMOTE! All keys for all devices can be remapped from any other remotes.
Weakness: Not many... it doesn't do "macro functions" (mapping multiple actions to one button), and there aren't quite enough dedicated buttons to map more esoteric DVD functions (like "Angle" and "Subtitle")
One of the best values in a universal remote I have ever run across. I have purchased them for everyone in my family, and I now own 2 myself. Learning functionality is a must for me, since so many important keys don't seem to "map" to universal remotes. With a programmable remote, you get to choose what is important and what isn't.
Strengths: Many different brands in memory, and it has a learning feature--so every electronic device with a remote will work with this universal remote.
Weakness: Plastic tends to "creak" near the battery compartment door when gripped.
This is an excellent universal remote. All of the others out there at retail stores don't have the Learning feature (unless you want to spend> $50 for a remote). I'd recommend this remote for everyone!

I got this remote for my home theater system include: a sony tv, sony satellite receiver, pioneer dvd recorder, jvc md, cd combo, and yamaha 5.1 dts receiver. It is a simple remote, but very powerful. Just point and press any button on your old remote toward this remote. It's no brainer
