Excelent learning remote

Strengths: Learning feature is working great. Almost each button can be programmed for each of the 8 devices!. It works with any remote I have. Macro sequences of the commands also plus.

Weakness: Little bit pricy. No LCD display. Buttons are not back light for night time. Missing codes for some devices (Direct TV, Panasonic theater) and missing few buttons for some functions from other remotes

Have this remote for few days. First impression was not very good. Missing codes for DirectTV receiver and Panasonic HT, programing procedure is little bit confusing. Had to read Manual completely ( I rare do that :) It took awhile to program all the buttons for two not supported devices (considering missing few buttons for some functions from other remotes). I was surprised to see how easy it...

I'm returning this one

Strengths: Easy to enter codes

Weakness: Missing standard DVD/CD keys

This remote is not appropriate for a person who operates an audio system. The unit lacks "skip to next track/skip to previous track" keys. DVD users will also need to program the up, down and side arrows -- at least if using a Toshiba DVD player. You can probably work around all this by learning commands and assigning them to other keys. It should just be easier than this. In addition, this...

Great value.

Strengths: Learning remote. Up to 8 components. Easy to program.

Weakness: Large size. Buttons too spread out. Could use a few more buttons. Instruction manual. No dedicated skip forward and reverse buttons - use the channel up and down buttons for that.

Extremely good value if you can get it under $20. Bought this yesterday and programmed four components in: TV, vcr, DVD, and Windows Media Center. The TV and vcr had the codes. Some special functions of the vcr required learning. The DVD player is a Colby and there were no codes. Had to teach the remote every function but it was easy to do. Same for my MCE remote. Press and hold "Set" for 3...

Sony RM-VL600 Learning Remote

Strengths: Easy to use, once you get everything programmed.

Weakness: I did not find the manual very clear.

It took a little while to program this remote because the instructions are not very clear. Once I figured it out, it was pretty easy to program. For those that have TiVo, the remote is not compatible out of the box and there is no program code. I had to do some creative programming to get it to recognize the TiVo remote.

Powerful Yet Simple

Strengths: Comprehensive learning including macros, transmitter, price

Weakness: Aesthetics

This not an overly complicated remote but is about as powerful as you can ask for without being gimmicky and really only limited by the effort you put into programming it. Codes certainly work for the essentials but of course going beyond those is required to really make using all your components as simple as possible. Having also owned its predecessors the 710 and 700, it can objectively be said...

Sony RM-VL600 Learning Remote Control

Strengths: This remote works great. It is very easy to learn how to operate right out of the box.

Weakness: None so far.

I like this remote because it has the Macro Functions to turn on my TV-AMP and Directv dvr box all at once. This remote is very light and the buttons are easy to read and use.I paid $25 for this remote.

Better than nothing

Strengths: better than nothing

Weakness: not backlit and can only be preprogram for 6 inputs

My biggest beef with this remote is the limited number (six) of imput sources it can handle. I bought this remote because I have a Sony television along with a Sony dvd/surroud sound system and I thought; oh perfect a Sony for the Sony stuff. Well, almost; My TV is a bravia xbr4, it has 2 video inputs, 3 component inputs and 3 HDMI inputs, -and in that order, for a total of eight inputs. The...

Does not have post sale support

Strengths: Controls basically everything (as long as you're lucky to get it working).

Weakness: Operating Instructions are confusing and do not work. Sony Support is the worse ever!

Have it working for my TV, VCR, and DVD. The problem begun when I tryed teaching it the eject command signals from the original Panasonic unit. Instructions from the manual do not work and NO SUPPORT was found neither on a chat session nor through the telephone. Buy any other one, but a Sony!

new remote

Strengths: Integration with other remotes

Weakness: Kind of hard to use the "learn" feature, but I figured it out

I own mostly Sony products - 2 TV's, one sterio, and a dvd/vcr combo. Even though the dvd/vcr combo is a Sony product, there was no code in the guide book. I eventually got it, but not without some degree of frustration. However. the learn feature, once I had it down, is really cool. Other than realizing that this thing needs to be strapped to my hip as I move from room to room if I want anything...

Outstanding for what I want in a remote

Strengths: It saves my time from carrying 3 remotes around

Weakness: None that I have incountered

For the use of connecting my TV, Cable and DVD/VCR player together, it works wonderfully. My cable provider was not able to give me a remote that worked with my new TV. This remote "learned" my TV, my Cable and my DVD/VCR player. Now everything works good together on one remote. I love it.
