A Truly Universal Remote
Strengths: Controls up to 5 different devices, favorites buttons, learning capability, good range.
Weakness: Buttons are not very responsive.
This remote has replaced my TV remote, satellite DVR remote, receiver remote and DVD player remote all together. - Favorites buttons. Just pressing one button the remote will send the favorite channel number. - Setting volume controls to any mode. So I can adjust the volume of the receiver while switching TV channels. - IR learning from another remote is very helpful. - Good range and great...

Philips Remote
Strengths: Good concept but.....
Weakness: .....poor execution. The learning feature seems to have a severe limit on how many commends it will hold. Once it reaches that limit it freezes up.
The thing wouldn't even hold all ten numbers for my Comcast digital adapter box. Avoid unless all you want is an on-off switch.

Good remote in the 80s
Strengths: It works if proper device codes are identified
Weakness: Difficult to find the working device code; Buttons not very responsive

A nice universal remote
Strengths: Very Easy to setup. controls up to 5 different devices works with more than 325 brands
Weakness: Missing LCD display. But that is fine given the price we are paying for it.
I recently purchased this new Universal remote from newegg com. I pretty much started addicted to this remote. Its simply superb. Allows you to operate up to 5 different devices, from most electronic brands on the market. (325 + brands). Very easy to setup. I was able to configure my TV, VCR and DVD players in 5 minutes. Most important feature I liked in this remote is you can quickly get to 10...

Good Remote
Strengths: favorites buttons
Weakness: no LCD, small volums/channel up/down buttons
This remote is exactly what I have been looking for. The biggest feature is that it has 10 preset favorite channel buttons. You just program the channel number into one of the spots and it remembers them. You then place a sticker ( included ) onto the space next to the button and you can quickly get to 10 of your favorite channels. Mt TV uses channels such as 68-4, 77-8, 103-4, etc, so it is...
