Review:  I have owned this detector for only about a month, and so far have not encountered any speed traps. Hopefully, when I do, the expansive and highly hyped up Passport 8500 will earn its keep. Until now, however, there is a lot of chirping of the x and k-band, which can get quiet annoying. Thankfully there is a mute button on the base of the cord, which silences the alarm until a new source triggers...

Weaknesses:  6 band versus 9 band in other Cobra models, no voice alert. VG2 goes off in the middle of nowhere!
Review:  A nice toy to verify my suspicion of where the speed traps are. I do not count on any detector to prevent a ticket. As with other Cobra models I have owned the VG/2 alert goes off when there is absolutely nothing around on back country roads.

Strengths:  Very sensitive. It picks up radar at a great distance. The auto muting feature is nice (so it doesn't become annoying)
Weaknesses:  There seems to be one type of radar it doesn't pick up. The State trooper was using a device that look similiar to binoculars.
Review:  I really like this detector. It picks up radar 1/2 mile away. The blue color can be a little intense at night, so you may opt for the red display model. Even though it doesn't seem to detect all radar, I find it very helpful.

Weaknesses:  None

Weaknesses:  False alarms...that's why I have the Escort 9500i in my other car. With its GPS system it will mark spots where there are electronic door opener...
Review:  I mount all of my detectors on the dashboard with velcro and then hardwire them into the car's electrical system. They tend to blend in with the interior quite nicely, instead of having a detector suction cupped and bouncing with each pothole!

Strengths:  12 band, easy to use and understand.
Weaknesses:  The mounting could be improved. The silver on the top creates a glare.
