Strengths: Great price! (especially with rebate, at the time of writing) good image quality quiet! Automatically closing lens cover amazing warranty
Weakness: Odor (I believe it will go away with time) low lumens (see comments)
I have been saving up for a long time, and keeping my eye on which (1080p) projector I should get. For most of this year I had my eye set on getting the Optoma HD80.*Just* before i had enough saved up to get it, however, Sanyo just had to come out with the PLV-Z2000, and Panasonic with the PT-AE2000U. This made my decision hard. After a lot of contemplation, and swaying between each projector, I...
Strengths: Colors out of the box. Lens shift. Silent fan. Price. 3 Yrs warranty.
Weakness: Low lumens. Strange odor. Blue ghosting, uneven temperature, unstable focus.
I had a trigger to buy a full 1080p PJ under $2k and finally PLV-Z2000 has arrived. Lens shift is an awesome feature if you want some flexibility in positioning. The fan is absolutely silent. It sits 2 feet behind me and I can't hear any noise. The only note of caution - the lumens are very low, so this PJ is for dedicated home theater only. The next unit to look at would be Panasonic AE2000U....
Strengths: Easy setup and calibration. Amazing picture with 1080p sources.
Weakness: none found yet
I just upgraded from a Sony VPL-HS51. I was thinking of getting the Sony VPL-VW60 for a lot more money. Fortunately it doesn't have the horizontal shifting like the older Sony. I chose the Sanyo mainly for the Shifting capability and the good reviews it's been getting. And I am glad I did. The color is off a bit right out of the box. It took me about 5 hours to install it on a shelf off the...

The Sanyo Z2000 is a tough new competitor that establishes the latest benchmark in 1080p price/performance. It offers excellent image quality, a host of features, and very few flaws, all for an industry-leading rock bottom price. If you have been waiting for prices to drop before stepping up to 1080p, the Z2000 is the product you've been waiting for.

As with the other 1080p reviews we are...

Great projector
Strengths: 2 HDMI inputs 2 component inputs Multiple iris settings Nifty auto door open. Horizontal and vertical shift (amazing!) Easy menu navigation Bigger remote than Z4, but the light up button is helpful.
Weakness: Color needs to be properly set, as there are some settings that are off. Bump the gamma up too if you want to get closer to what plasma/LCD screens look like.
All around fantastic 1080p projector. Unbelievable for the money ($2100 after rebate). It's big, it's bulky, but the performance is unmatched by anything it its price range. Should you buy? Yes, if you want/need 1080p. Blu-ray and HD-DVD, plus Playstation and XBox 360 look amazing.
