Strengths: Great picture quality. Easy to setup.
Weakness: Doesn't include VGA cable.
Overall, I love this projector. Its great for movies. The colors are vivid and bright. It was easy to setup. I recommend this projector to anyone looking for a home theater projector.
Strengths: Convenient resolution natively supports HD media (16:9, 720p) and computer sources (16:10). Fantastic image quality and brightness.
Weakness: Putting the lens-cap on changes focus since it fits on a sensitive focus ring, so I rarely put the cap on. Source-lock turns off if a new source is selected (I'd prefer it to never probe for source).
I was looking for a pixel-perfect translation from computer to wall at useful resolutions for programming, gaming, and movie watching. This does the job admirably. I've been projecting onto a white wall (which does add a bit of it's own non-smooth texture to the image, but not a problem). I have computer sourced through DVI and game consoles through component. Everything looks wonderful, but...
Strengths: I'm projecting onto a 92" screen and image quality is truly fantastic using either a HD cable signal or DVD.
Weakness: None that I've found thus far.
I'm using only component video input and projected images are crystal clear, especially in a completely blacked out theatre room and a HD source. I also bought the non-generic mount offered for this projector, which was easy to install and easily adjustable for my needs. The unit runs virtually noise free, I don't even hear it when volume is low. The fan does kick on for 5-10 seconds when...
Strengths: Very Clear Picture, Easy to Set up, very nicely set up menu's
Weakness: Fan somewhat loud at shutdown, no much else
excellent value for the price. Did lots of research before I purchased, and this projector got excellent reviews, and didn't disappoint I was very impressed with the picture quality and brightness.
Strengths: Delivers a sharp, high contrast image with great color saturation. Picture quality appears to be up there with LCD 1280x720 products that sell in the same general range of street prices.
Weakness: Hard to find any but did notice fan noise becomes more noticeable in bright mode. Focus ring and zoom might be too sensitive.
The HD72 provides a wide range of pre-calibrated, menu-driven options for adjusting image color characteristics. I found it to be exceptionally easy to use, allowing me to obtain great results -- without having to deal with major calibration issues, yet still having the range of controls necessary to finely adjust as desired. The five star rating I gave the HD72 is well deserved!
Strengths: Ease up Setup, Image Quality, Form Factor
Weakness: None
I highly recommend this projector. After reading the reviews, and particularly the issues around setup, I decided to purchase the standard mount, PN BM2006N. Although this mount as a little more money than a generic mount, it provided the adjustments needed to work well for my setup. Out of the box, this projector produced absolutely stunning images. I have this being fed by an OppoDigital...
i bought this projector a month ago.it's just excellent in everything:contrast, black level, color.it rocks with hd material.and i was supriced of its price.this is the best projector for its price! everyone loves it at home and have not had any problems at all!
Strengths: Excellent contrast and picture quality. True theatre like experience. Well built and not fragile.
Weakness: Limited zoom and placement possibilities. Sides have overlapping images. Fan noise. Will not accept most universal mounts and size M3 screws are had to find. Good for only large rooms
This is an excellent DLP projector. You can use right out of the box without any calibration. However, if you like to do those calibration there are several options. I installed the projector on the ceiling and then realized I have to flush it directly as close as possible to the ceiling. I first bought a universal mount but found out the hard way the mounting screws are size M3 which are...
Strengths: very good picture and brightness levels. Lots of connection options. Very good control options in the projector software. Very quiet. Light weight.
Weakness: mount is a little wierd, as it mounts off to one side. There is no mechanical lens shift, so you have to mount it a little strange if you have standard ceilings
I replaced a sharp PG-M20X. that projector was somewhat of a piece of junk. It had a pretty good picture, tho. this projector's picture is superior in many ways. It is only rated at 1300 lumens, but its brightness is just as good or better than the sharp. It has very good focus and brightness uniformity. I cant speak much about the longevity, as I havent had it for very long, but so far so good....

Great Projector, but start saving for replacment lamp
Strengths: Excellent image and brightness
Weakness: Bulb life
I only got 980 hours and 11 months from the 1st lamp. $325 replacement. There is a discussion on the AVS forum that several owners have this issue. It appears that the ballast built into these projectors do not like older lamps. The symptom is the projector blanks out during warm up. No errors - just a blank screen. Look for some dealers offering free 2nd lamp or 2 year lamp guarantee deals when...
