Judged purely in terms of image quality, in a side-by-side comparison the HD7100 beats the H79. That means it delivers a world class image. And with a street price of $2,999 there is no question that it is a leading-edge product in price/performance. It is amazing to think that just twelve months ago this level of performance cost $6,500.

We were very eager to get our hands on the new Optoma HD7100 home theater projector, considering the very high performance we achieved with the recently reviewed Optoma HD72 . The New HD7100 boasts 5000:1 contrast ratio, incorporates the new 0.80-inch DarkChip3 technology and includes horizontal and vertical lens shift.

Really Like this Home Theater Projector
Strengths: This projector delivers fantastic colors & color saturation, contrast, black levels, and image sharpness. I can't believe you can get it for under $3,000: I found the images to be rich and vibrant.
Weakness: Could not really find any.
With native 720p resolution at under $3,000, I don’t think any other Darkchip3 DLP projector can match the HD7100’s image quality. The four-way lens is just wonderful (!) -- providing easy installation with precision and flexibility.
