Strengths: Nice picture most of the time...
Weakness: Pop and flash red
Only had the TV less than a year and within two months it started popping about once a day. I think it is convergence related. The popping got worst until it was popping every few minutes. When it pops the screen goes out (or freezes) for about 1-10 seconds. At this point the screen had a slight red tint (especially when you changed channels). When you turn it on or off it poops slightly and...
Strengths: Good number of inputs, good picture quality, can be had pretty cheap, pretty decent internal speakers for what that's worth
Weakness: Calibration, definitely needs a stand
This is a very good TV for the money. I do not actually get HDTV in my area, so I can't comment on that. However, DVDs and games look pretty good. HOWEVER, do your homework on CRT HDTVs before buying. They take a great deal of calibration in order to get the picture looking good. Be prepared to spend another couple hundred $ or do some grunt work (after lots of internet research) yourself in...
Strengths: The 46H84 offers excellent performance at its price. When properly calibrated, it offers excellent detail, color accuracy, and gray scale, especially from high definition sources.
Weakness: A little soft on DVD due to the internal upscaler, but this issue disappears if a decent upscaling DVD player is used, and will not be an issue with the upcoming HD DVD formats.
CRT based HDTV's may be on their way out (at least of the mainstream), but for now they are at their heyday in performance quality and are an incredible bargain because most people want the "thin" microdisplay sets. The Toshiba 46H84 is a prime example. It offers black levels and black details, along with color purity and accuracy, that none of the existing microdipslay sets can match. It also...
Strengths: Good looking picture. Easy to use and figure out controls. Tremendous amound of features for the price.
Weakness: No 720p display.
Picked this TV up at Best Buy for $999.99 on Sale. A great deal. As another review noted, it does need a stand, either the Toshiba custom made for it or another sufficiently large stand. I suggest a low stand, 10-15" if possible. Mine is on about a 20" stand, and it is a little to high. I gave it a five for the price, features and quality of picture.
Strengths: Bright Picture, Great sound, Easy to set up, number of connections
Weakness: better to buy the stand (it is sold separately)
I'm happy with this product. Everything is wonderful, the remotes are compatible and the picture is great. The bad thing is that I have to buy the Toshiba model ST4663 TV stand for $199, otherwise, I must sit on the floor to watch this big screen TV.
Strengths: Great price. Have owned the Toshiba 42" and loved it.
Weakness: Unlike the Toshiba 42" the 46" has an "optional" stand. Probably is not necessary.
This was one of Sear's "Black Friday" early-bird specials. Price was offered at $999. Have not seen a lower price. However, it appears that this model will shortly be discontinued. Due to a remodelling, we had to delay delivery and several time have encountered that the model was "not available."
Strengths: Good HD picture, very bright for a projection, cheap
Weakness: Typical projection: Glare, really benefits from having the lights off, very hard to get at the right height, no HDMI
When I bought this thing I felt like it was a no-brainer, but that was well over a year ago and these days I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's still selling very near the price I originally paid, while DLPs (with much better pictures and much less of that very annoying glare) are selling for a lot less than they were. The biggest problem I've faced with this TV is with finding a stand. As far...
Strengths: price is unbeatable
Weakness: no stand one digital input (hdmi)
this tv is great only cost me a grand and for that price its quality was second to none its very easy to use unless your challenged its remote will work on your sat box if you program it your codes will be in your sat manual and the remote will operate your toshiba dvd player its preprogramed from the factory it works well with a thearter system however i would recomend not connecting the autio...
