Strengths: Great picture and sound (when it works)
Weakness: Defective lamp prevents turning on TV. Sony support is less than helpful.
Owning the Grand Wega has been like owning a Viper where the tires explode after a month and you cannot use the car any longer. My GW3 has experienced the now-infamous failure to light defect which prevents the bulb from lighting from anywhere from 1 day to several weeks of ownership. At first the defect was rather harmless; occasionally it would fail to turn on but the second attempt would...
Strengths: When connected to a HDTV receiver, it looks crystal clear and sharp. Lots of inputs (back)including DVI, 2 Componets. PIP
Weakness: Regular satillite signal requires tv to be adjusted. Took some time to find all screen adjustment tools. Would be nice if they had componets in front.
Noticed that some people were complaining about lamp light going out. Found some info on it that said only models made in Febuary and later models were corrected. Works great with all gaming systems like the Playstation 2. Wish they put componet in front for easy connect/disconnect. DVD through componet was the best and clearest out of the box. Watching regular tv with analog connection requires...
Strengths: picture quality rivals dlp but less expensive
Weakness: remote.you have to cycle thru all the video options to get to componet video
I worked as a seasonal employee for best buy and I got to compare this technology to the rest. Plasma is nice but I'm not spending that kind of cash for a tv which is not yet stable. This technology is the best of both worlds. The best thing about this tv is when the bulb goes you just replace it and you have a brand new tv again. I had a professional install my home theatre and he was amazed how...
Strengths: Fantastic pictures,light weight,good sound
Weakness: It gets harder and harder to tolerate regular broadcast TV - they are so "fuzzy"!
I was sold on a DLP set, but I compared it to the Sony side-by-side and the WEGA was bigger, better picture for less money. It works well, even when the sun is shining on it. Kids think it is just like the movies!
Strengths: amazing color and resolution. depth, wt all amazing for the price. satisfactory black levels.
Weakness: Had lamp problems noted in reviews of 50 & 60" TV's.Simple warrantee fix.Lamp connector originally too short;no problem since replacement.Pester retailer to insure problem corrected prior to delivery
Pixilation bothersome if you sit too close. Object edges can look jagged. Picking the right size set for your viewing distance can make a big difference in your overall satisfaction. In light of simplicity of design, aside from bulb replacement, I expect to have this set a long time. Was looking at the LCD/DLP sets and was impressed, but I payed almost $2000 less for Sony and I don't have to...
Strengths: FANTASTIC PICTURE
Weakness: None so far
Realizing that there have been thousands of these sets sold with minimum negative feedback I decided to order one. It was backordered for 6 weeks. This TV replaced a Samsung HLM507 DLP due to it only working 10 days before critical failure. The Sony out of the box has a great picture, the quality even with a satellite signal far surpasses the Sammy and I got 10" more screen for ~$150 more. DVD's...
Strengths: light weight, slim profile, picture quality, name brand
Weakness: set came from manufacturer need to tweek right to get crisp picture
i bought this set floor model from Sears for $2510 plus tax. At first i'm not very impress w/ the picture that come out either from the dvd (component video) nor satellite (s-video)..but after spending sometimes tweeking the set (by finding out how to adjust the video following the user manual), i got it to a point that it looks pretty good, but i still think i have not yet get to the best of the...

Sony WEGA KF-60WE610 60'' LCD Projection TV
Strengths: This is a great TV. Sure, the newer ones have newer features, but if you get a good deal on this "old" model, it'd be worth considering. It has a beautiful picture and has been perfectly behaved.
Weakness: Black level is not great, keep a little light on in the room - as you really should - then this is not a problem. Takes time to warm up and for the fan to go off at turn off, so what!
This is a very good TV. I've had it for quite a while - maybe 9 months now. First I used it with SD tv, and yes it shows how bad SD can be - but any good quality broadcast was easily watchable (I got spoiled instantly). Then I put progressive DVD, it was great, and finally HD (DISH) and a Denon 3910 upconverting to HD DVD player (and a Denon receiver, Definitive Pro Cinema 80 5.1 system). I'd...
