Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: Shows all dark cracks, crannys and spots, that cannot be seen on other high definition tvs and some plasmas.

Weakness: The tuner does not come with it and will need to be purchased separately, and the remote control looks confusing and does not match the color of the tv.

This HDTV set highlights the dark areas of cracks, and crannys and has more lines of resolution than that of most plasmas, and pc monitors. If I had a choice of a plasma or this model, I would prefer the HDTV. Unlike most HDTV projected sets, you can actually still see the picture from an angle without it fading. This set will be even more fantastic with a progressive scan DVD Player!!

Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: Angle view, brightness, color, price, weight, size, 99.9% pleasurable viewing.

Weakness: Pixelization in certain types fast movement scenes.

Occasional problem of pixelization prevents 5 stars but still a very good TV. Closeup waterfall scenes and wheat fields blowing in the wind reliably demonstrate the problem. Rarely a problem but can be very noticeable. Much better value than plasma. Would definitely buy again.

Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: Superb picture, no burn in, light weight, light reflections not noticable. Rivals (equals? maybe) plasmas

Weakness: I have not found any yet. This set was, by far, the choice for me.

This Is What I've Been Waiting 15 Years For Wow! I just picked up the Samsung HLN-507W. It is a superb product! I was going to get one of the other 50-52 inch widescreen conventional projection models that looked pretty good for about $2200. However, because of viewing angle, light reflections(even with the best screen shield/protector) I just wanted something better. Plasmas were $10,000 and up...

Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: Fantastic picture with incredible brightness.

Weakness: Infrequent audio synch problem. Text appears ragged at times, Rapid motion problems. 1 DVI port. Switching between TV and DVD is needlessly complicated.

I sometimes felt like I was watching a dubbed foreign film. This is a close miss. I returned it and I will watch for Samsung's next iteration.

Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: Most beautifull Picture!

Weakness: Terrible/Sould Picture Asynchrony: They did not account for DLP processing delay, so the sound and picture do not match! Shamefull!

I purchased one after studying the field and wanting to watch something OK until the LCD TV's get more reasonably priced. The second day, I watched the news and noticed that the words and the picture was off. My wife also corroborated this. We returned the TV and got another one, There it is again! I finally found this site by Googling the words projection and sound delay, and there it was!...

Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: Super clear picture, looks great with HD cable TV. Has a DVI input.

Weakness: None so far.

Bought this T.V at Fry's, had to wait a couple of weeks for my HD cable service, after that no more analog T.V for me. The HD channels look awesome, it's hard to stop watching T.V now. Now I'm trying to find the HD931 DVD player to test the DVI input, but not store seems to have it, don't want to buy ut online. We decided on the DLP over the Plasmas due to the high reduction of glare the DLP has.

Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: DLP technology best for the money. Bright, high contrast, highly detailed picture. Non-reflective screen. With DVI input and the new Samsung 931 DVD, DVDs have HD screen definition.

Weakness: Very occasional pixilization possibly, eliminated by DVI(HD) input. Only one DVI input for DVD and HD Box, and no current A-B switch available, so one has to be component with loss of picture quality.

DLP from Texas Instruments is the best for the money. Non-reflective wide angle viewing is superb in detail, color and brightness. DVI input gives even higher quality for DVDs and TV inputs. Unfortunately the set has only one DVI input so you have to make a choice until someone creates a DVI switch to handle both DVD and HD box inputs. With an almost identical setup in a 61" screen for a few...

Samsung 50" Widescreen Projection TV

Strengths: The color is as good as the CRT, far better than most rear projection and plasma TVs; Can be used as PC monitor; 720P true HDTV; very light weight.

Weakness: Not sure about the quality of Samsung; Need a stand (not necessary a problem); No build-in tuner.

My comments is based on observation of the store demo. I haven't purchased this set. I want to wait and see the 61". Also our cable provider won't carry HDTV for several more months. But if I need a HDTV today, this is the one I will get.
