Weakness: DVD READING SOUND
I bought it so that I can use it while I travel. It has a very good picture quality and nice sound. The battery lasts very long and the only drawback is that it makes a horrible reading sound at the start of the dvd.
Strengths: normal size screen for in car player. Good quality.
Weakness: a little noise, external battery but a lot of other brands does the same thing
it worths buying. It even shows subtitle for divx movie. We also bought a case from amazon. Kids love it. MY wife watching it while doing house work. I especially like the dark color.
Strengths: Great picture, solidly built unit.
Weakness: The motor is a bit loud
I have read other reviews complaining of how loud this unit is when it spins up. The first unit I bought was ridiculously loud, the chapter skip was slow and it did not play all of my discs. I exchanged it for another and the all of those problems went away. Although it's still a bit noisy, it is much better than the first unit I brought home.
Strengths: 8.5" widescreen color LCD display, as opposed to an 8". Multi format including DivX. Rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 6 hours per charge.
Weakness: Would be nice if a case was included. I had to purchase one separately. (Targus)
I purchased the Philips Portable DVD player to replace a 7" AudioVox player that I bought last year. That was a big mistake. After 1 year the screen went dead. I am very pleased with the Philips. They have excellent quality, and I read a lot of good reviews before I purchased. I would highly recommend this player.
Strengths: The screen is pretty nice, the body is heavy but is solid. The battery last for approx 6 hours. That is one of the main reasons I bought it.
Weakness: I can't say too much bad about this dvd player. It is a little on the heavy side, but that is what you want in a solid dvd player. The speakers do not put a ton of output out
If I had to choose a dvd player over again I would choose this one. The price is alittle steep but with the rebate I got, the quality, good battery, and good reputable name, I could not go wrong.
Strengths: Great picture. Very compact. Nice battery life.
Weakness: Speakers aren't the best quality. Recommend using headphones whenever possible for best sound quality.
This is a great unit. Very easy to transport and great for vacations. We even used it at a dinner party in a restaurant to keep our 3 year old entertained. It's priced a bit high at $199.99 but if you're able to get it on sale, it's a nice investment.

This is one of the best portable DVD players in the market. Big, bright screen and battery life long enough to watch a couple of movies. The only complaint, that too a very minor one, is about looks - doesn't look high end at all which it actually is thanks to its actual performance.
