Don't get me wrong, this is a famous sony cd player. With normal audio cds, it works like a dream, albeit being a bit loud while seeking (in mp3 mode, more often because it's searching for tunes). but the lack of little features really start to add up. for example, you can't fast foward within an mp3 (you can on normal audio), you must wait for the part in the song that you want to hear. Weakness: takes a while to get to certain song if you have a few hundred on each cd. small screen, not backlit, slow text, and that annoying two second pause before playing an mp3 song.
When i went shopping for an mp3 player i had some certain criteria and the hunt began. I found this player at my local Walmart for $120. Therefore it met my first criteria, PRICE. that's right! a high quality cd player doesn't get much cheaper. Second off, i wanted to store massive amounts of data and i wanted to do it cheap. One problem, i don't have the cash to buy a 20 gig player like nomads...

Strengths: Well built with great features. Repeating songs in different MP3 folders is really a plus. Ease of use and good looks are also strong points.
Weakness: Headphones shipped with unit are below standard. Even the Sony headphones you can buy over-the counter are better than these. No high-end at all.
I like Sony products and would buy this unit again because of the overall sound quality, features, ease of use. I bought the Sony clip-on ear phones for $30, and greatly improved the sound. When paying over $149 for a portable CD-MP3 unit, you would think Sony could package better headsets.

Strengths: i most liked the cd text,the energy saving system when playing from battries in MP3 mode,the AVLS system. in short this is one cd player i would recommened to purchase it will serve you long
Weakness: the only weekness is that you cannot fastforward when you are in mp3 mode
This cd mp3 player is one of the best players out there.My player was also supplied with a remote control RM-MC11L which is back lighted,a pare of rechargable battries from sony and a pare of small headphones . This player has never failed me and never skipped no mather gow hard i tried. i just wanted to add that i am a DJ (not a prof. ) and i use this plyer all the time and it never failed me...
