Strengths: A good workout from shipping them back.
Weakness: Keep having to send them back.
Being I am on my fourth Westinghouse TV I can not rate them high at all. My first set had the sound go out early on so it went back to the place where I purchased it. The second set developed sound issues as well, so it went back too. The third lasted a little longer before developing display problems with lines in the screen. This one had to back to Westinghouse directly. So after talking with...
Strengths: Price, sound, picture, design, dimensions and overall value.
Weakness: None yet
Between the sale price and an additional 12% off coupon, I paid just over $1,500.00 for this TV with a 4 year warrant at my local Best Buy. I initially was looking at a Samsung for about twice that price, but the picture on this set is very good and the sound is very, very good. Why spend twice as much for a little more? With an upconvert DVD player, DVDs look excellent. For a first time LCD HDTV...
Strengths: Value, price, variety of inputs/outputs, size, and clarity.
Weakness: Stand, only one coaxial connection, and packaging.
I spent almost a year researching various LCD and plasma HDTVs before I chose the Westinghouse TX-series 47" LCD HDTV. It had everything I was looking for: great value, 1080p, incredible clarity, every input/output I could need, and a large display with minimal shell-casing around it. This model is highly comparable to the high-end similar HDTVs by Samsung, Sony, and Sharp, but at half the cost....
Strengths: Price, Size, and Decent Quality
Weakness: Burnt Pixel, Low Contrast Ratio, and Limited Video/Audio Inputs
This LCD TV is an excellent deal when you compare the price and the size of it to other similar LCD TVs. You save at least about $500. I paid $1436 which includes the tax and the shipping from BestBuy's website. So far I have used it for about two weeks and I like it very much. The size of it is just amazing! Comparing the specs of this Westinghouse model to the specs of similarly sized LCDs from...
Strengths: You can't find a better set for the price, but as you will see below there are still some issues with this set. Based upon Westinghouse's past performance they may not be fixed.
Weakness: A laundry list of issues, some of the simple like the lack of discrete inputs for the 4 HDMI inputs. (Which really is just an HDMI hub)
For the money this TV is hands down the best option. Sure they are better tv's out there that don't have any problems. But you would be paying another $1k at least for those tv's. This tv does what it is supposed to and at a price point that won't break the bank.
Strengths: Very bright, great picture, fantastic sound, the most bang for the buck.
Weakness: Throws a lot of heat from the front of the screen just does not hold up as well as better name brands
Worked great for little over a year then it developed a dark vertical band running up and down the middle of the screen because a poor flexible connection cable, and after a year and half the power supply for the back light failed completely leaving a great sounding tv with a black screen. After speaking to the customer service at Westinghouse I explained that "durable goods" like a $1500 tv...
Strengths: picture was decent (while it lasted)
Weakness: Good luck trying to mount this TV. Westinghouse customer service is slow and if you have problems good luck.
I bought this TV back in July, after mounting, I plugged it into the wall and heard a popping noise from within the TV. Even though I had a warranty Westinghouse, they made me pay for a repairman to come out and fix the TV at a "discount" He "fixed" it then plugged it in the TV and again it popped. Called Westinghouse again and they eventually sent me another TV which I recieved in February. So...
Strengths: Great connectivity and easy setup. Color and other settings very good right out of the box. Excellent picture, especially when considering great price. Nice matte finish.
Weakness: Stand is a little less than solid, though usable.
Very nice picture quality and a full selection of connectivity options for a best-in-class price makes this unit a great deal. The side pointing connections along the center spine are very convenient. The on-screen setup menus are straightforward and helpful. Sources are recognized automatically and the remote can also switch them easily. The remote layout is basic, with 3 programmable channel...
Strengths: Superb cabinet design, excellent value, no dead/stuck pixels, fantastic picture quality on bright/colorful images, very low power comsumption with backlight turned down (~120 Watts), lots of inputs
Weakness: Sometimes has trouble switching inputs, blanks out for several seconds whenever input format changes, blacks are grayish, poor display of shadow detail
I was aware that this model had some issues from reading the AVSForum discussion (I highly suggest Googling for this), but I took the plunge anyway because of the unit's low price and otherwise great features (4 HDMI inputs, 1080p). So far I'm very happy with it. Some of the supposed problems are reproducible on my unit, but they really don't seem to be that significant. Other reported problems I...
THE GOOD: Relatively inexpensive; excellent connectivity, including four HDMI inputs and one PC input; solid range of picture controls, including fine color temperature settings; helpful menu system. THE BAD: Reproduces a light shade of black; subpar detail in shadows; uneven screen uniformity; no independent input memories for HDMI; clips detail in white areas; ho-hum all-gray styling. THE...

Don't buy without extended warranty
Strengths: Nice set until it fails and goes into permanent sleep mode
Weakness: There is a design flaw in the main board that causes the unit to fail and go into a permanent mode. Reset does not resolve problem.
If you plan to buy this model, buy an extended warranty. I recommend a 5-year extension, if available. The "main unit" in this TV will likely die shortly after the manufacturer's warranty expires. Westinghouse Support acknowledged this is a common problem but offers no reasonable resolution. When it happens to you, the part number is W470PROLX68. Mine is in pieces on the dining room table waiting...
