Strengths: AMAZING picture quality, best I have seen. Easy to get set up, has enough input jacks to hook up a good array of audio equipment.
Weakness: Internal speakers suck. Remote is not very ergonomic, has flat edges, doesn't feel good in your hand.
Very pleased with this TV. Picture quality is absolutely the best I have seen bar none. Don't bother with ambilight, Too overpriced, and I don't think you really need it. I was going to go for it, but glad I didn't. I didn't think the menu screens were all that annoying, Tv is easy to set up it is rather heavy, at 125lbs, and takes 2 people to get it up on the wall. Once mounted on the wall, the...
Strengths: Aesthetically pleasing piano black finish and matching stand, matte-finish screen to dimish glare, and finally, an awesome Hi-Def experience. Plenty of inputs for the add-on toys.
Weakness: Analog picture is only ok, with very noticeable banding at times. Remote control lacks robustness. Menu navigation is a little quirky.
This is my first LCD HD television, and I have no regrets about this purchase. I was fairly pleased with the analog signal, but when I was finally switched over to HDTV after the first week, I was absolutely stunned. This TV really needs to be used for HD, as the size of screen is unforgiving to the analog picture, and I was amazed at the clarity of images. While there are certainly newer...
Strengths: Amazing picture quality when compared with similar type TV brands! Enough input sources to satisfy most needs. A set-up assistant in the TV is helpful with examples of features, etc. Sleek display!
Weakness: As mentioned previously, the set-up for adjusting color, etc. covers the entire screen until you complete your changes. Must go back in to re-adjust. Cheap feeling remote with few option buttons.
Overall, a fantastic TV for the money and for the category! Since I use a universal remote anyway, the remote it came with was a trivial issue in the long run. This TV has an impressive glass stand that locks into the back of the TV for support, very substantial & sturdy. This will grow with our family for years to come with all the features such as "Child Lock", PIN Code for certain channel...
Strengths: Great picture Lots of inputs - 3 hdmi, 2 component, 1 composite, 1 s-video priced similar to the second tier mfrs like visio nice case design built in antenna does a great job picking up hd
Weakness: remote is cheap - not universal or backlit blacks could be blacker takes 5-10 seconds before picture appears when you turn the unit on You can't customize the input names. It only has generic names
For the money, this is a great TV! It has a great automatic setup feature. During setup, the TV shows you a series of split screen images and different audio tracks and you select the one you perfer. HD and XBOX360 images are excellent on this TV. SDTV is okay. The audio lacks bass so be prepared to spend additional money on a receiver and speakers.
Strengths: 52 " full size screen, multiple inputs ,HDMI ver 1.3, USB to play picture shows and also to update to the latest firmware, No clouding or banding issues
Weakness: Missing VGA input, remote control, settings occupy the whole screen (explained below), analog tv picture quality
I got this HDTV model at a great price directly from PHILIPS and it is from a tier-one manufacturer (LG-PHILIPS) Been happy with it so far. HDTV picture looks stunning,Analog TV is OK Updating the firmware is a breeze, just download the firmware onto a usb stick, put it in the USB slot on the TV and the tv update itself in a few minutes and you are good to go. You can either go with the few...
Strengths: Picture quality for both HDTV and Analog. Price. Overall Quality
Weakness: None that I could find.
I looked long and hard before I bought this TV. I got a GREAT price ($1799 with coupon at Costco, they even DOUBLE the mfg warranty to 2 years). It came down to this TV and the Toshiba 52" Regza. It was a difficult decision, but all members of my family agreed that the Philips had the most lifelike picture. Set up was a breeze and it has performed exactly as I had expected. Check that, it has...
Strengths: ok picture quality
Weakness: sound is not great. see the rest of its many many weaknesses in the commments
2 weeeks after i purchased this tv, it started having problems. the whole screen went haywire. the pixels were changing into different colors during this the tv wouldnt turn off or communicate at all until i pulled out its cord and plugged it back in, and it kept doin it more and more frequently. overall this tv was ok until the above story had occured. after this inconvenience,i don't recommend...

Phillips 52PFL7422D/37 52 nice TV
Strengths: I was going to buy a Toshiba 52 inch and when I went to costco and compared both of them, though Toshiba had a brighter picture but Philips was showing more true colors.
Weakness: The remote is really CHEAp quality, it doesnt have PIP or POP feature but again I never used that in my other LCD tv so really dont care. I would have liked to see DVI or VGA output.
Over all, I think the TV is great, Costco just dropped the price by a 100$ so now you can get this for 1899$ and if you purchase through American Express you get 3 year warranty now that is very good. The setup is very simple plus it has a USB slot and you can view all the pictures just by plugging in your jumpdrive. I can definately see the difference between Philips and LG which I bought 2...
