Strengths: small, light, high resolution screen; jog wheel
Weakness: thin system fonts
This is my third Palm OS device, and I love it. The thin system fonts (due to the high-res screen) are easily fixed with Font Hack 123. It doesn't have the latest bells and whistles, but for the price ($80 shipped, refurb), it holds the information I need as well as ebooks and games.
Strengths: Durable, attractive, inexpensive.
Weakness: Short battery life. Hard to read display unless under direct lighting. Built in light decreases battery life considerably.
I bought my SL10 in 2002 and payed $130 after rebate. I quickly learned that buying nonrechargable batteries could get expensive. After purchasing and using rechargable batteries (the kind recommended) battery life still did not increase (lasting about 1 1/2 weeks with about 6-8 hours total use with internal light off. I still can not get mine, after reading the limited instructions provided, to...
Strengths: Sony comes through again with a clean, tight and well proportioned handheld. Though not nearly as jam packed full of features like the high end Sony's, it does everything a palm is expected to do.
Weakness: Its a little heavy and the screen is sometimes a bit hard to read outdoors.
I had a couple of palms before I bought this little Sony and I must say the differences are noticeable right out of the box. The design and ergonomics are great with the flip cover substituting a hard or soft case. The screen in mono high-resoution which I found remarkabely easy on the eyes and works well with the newer palm software. If you're a sonyphile like myself, then of course the memory...
Strengths: Hi-res 16-gray screen. Affordable. Takes standard AAA batteries. Thougtfully designed - case even has a place to attach a lanyard.
Weakness: Rechargable or disposable batteries must be purchased separately. Screen isn't very fast. Hi-resolution programs are inherently slower due to 4x the pixels of a 160x160 device.
This is a great entry-level handheld and I will never go back to the blocky 160x160 screen of a standard Palm. Characters on the screen look like letters, not collections of blocks. The speed of this device's screen is wholly acceptable for text and the memory is sufficient for a day's supply of comics, news, and books. I haven't been spoiled yet ;-) The display is too slow for continuously...
Just because Sony is making some of the coolest high end color Palm OS PDAs, doesn't mean they're neglecting the low-end grayscale market! Introduced in August of 2002, the SL10 is Sony's latest low end grayscale PDA and it offers a lot for the $149 asking price. The SJ20 followed a few weeks later, and while similar to the SL10, it's the next step up, offering a better screen, more memory and a...

Sony CLIE PEG-SL10 PDA
Strengths: Changeable Icon size, small, easy use, crisp display
Weakness: short battery life, low picture quality, little memory
This is a good PDA as a low end PDA, but the AAA batteries that it uses don't do any good. The PDAs with lithium ion batteries are usually better than this. But for what it is I can't say that it could be much better.
