Strengths: Lithium Ion Battery, Ease of use
Weakness: 2 MB of Memory, different controls than other Palms, most Palm apps are not compatible.
This PDA is a PDA for people who do not want to spend money on a PDA. It is basicallly for storing addresses and keeping a schedule and nothing more.
Strengths: Palm OS® 4.1, Light / Easy to use.
Weakness: No back-light. Not alot of storage space.
I bought my Palm Zire after Christmas day of 2002. I really like what it has to offer. Entries are easy to add, sort, and etc. As I am getting more advanced, as a student, I would need a more powerful PDA Device. I do recommend the Palm® Zire for the starters (and basic/easy to use). Thumbs up!
Strengths: Battery Life, Size, PalmOS 4
Weakness: No back-light, 2M ram, no expansion, non-upgradeable, hard to find sync cable
This is the most practical PDA I've yet seen. The biggest plus the long battery life and rechargeability. I find that the trickle charging it does while hooked up to the USB is enough to keep it charged. I NEVER have to worry about the battery. You are not going to find that sort of convenience in any other PDA less than $200. You have to be careful what you load, because of the 2M ram. (e.g....
Strengths: cost
Weakness: low memory, no backlight, only 4 keys
I enjoy using my Zire. It works fairly well, and its low cost is one of its best features. If you are looking for an easy to use, basic pda, I would highly recommend the Zire. It is not good for some uses though, do to its skimpy 2MB of memory and lack of backlight. Another complaint is its lack of the traditional 6 buttons, which makes it a much more capable gaming machine (it doesn't complicate...
Strengths: Decent size screen for easy viewing, ease of use, intuitive interface, excellent battery life.
Weakness: ring tones for appointment reminder could have been louder
For basic everyday use for keeping track of appointments and schedules, this is one of the best there is. No fancy e-mail or internet or camera mode. I needed it for just one purpose, to keep track of my appointments and see the busy dates and times while making new ones and that is what this does perfectly. The graffitti is a nice feature, makes entries a lot quicker sometimes. The cover it...
Strengths: small, light making it easy to carry, long long battery life, good stylus,
Weakness: no backlight,b&w,4 keys not 6,no expantion slot,2mb,no keybord, slow,NOT GOOD! IT IS HORRIBLE!
when i first got the zire i was really excited because i always wanted a palm but now i think it sucks like heck. i can't play during the night i barley have anything on it. alittle advice if your gonna get a palm dont even think of the zire!!! go to pricegrabbers.com and search the palm U want and get it at a cheap price! the main reason i hate hate hate the zire is because when i write home...
Strengths: Battery life, price is competitive
Weakness: no blacklite, very difficult to plug modems or datacables
I bought the Zire as a present for my birthday in December 2002. I was satisfied in principle. It is working great with the software included. For people using textfiles, it's great. There is also Office software on the market, if you plan to use Excel. If you plan to use email or Internet, you must get a infrared cell phone. Zire works on USB, so normal modems for normal telephone lines do not...
Strengths: cost
Weakness: memory
This PDA is a great entry level device. It is easy to use and is a convient tool for calendar use and addresses. I had no problem syncing with Windows XP. Not for someone who wants frills, but for the price, it can't be beat.
Strengths: Small, Compact, Light, Good for basic tasks
Weakness: no backlight, only 2MB of RAM
this palm is good for basic tasks but with only 2MB you can't add many applications. It's small, light design looks great but it has no backlight.

Palm Zire PDA
Strengths: Battery life, Ease of use, EXCELLENT screen resolution.
Weakness: Memory.
I purchased this PDA for basic use. That being said, this is an excellent PDA. It has alot of intuitive controls and functions not found on more expensive models. This PDA has only 2mb of memory, hardley a storage warehouse. However if you are looking for BASIC functions only (Address/Phone book, Calandar, Appointments, Etc.) Then 2mb should be more than enough room. If you want to play games...
