Strengths: The player itself is very good, battery life is excellent
Weakness: Can NOT transfer music back to the PC (as advertised on the Sony site), included software is confusing
I purchased this player because the Sony website made it look like I could upload music from the player to a PC. I have an older Sony minidisc player that I use to make recordings and I wanted to transfer the recordings to my PC to burn CDs. When I got the MZ-N420D, I tried to transfer music that I had recorded to my PC with no success. When I called Sony and asked them why I couldn't transfer...
Strengths: The player and the headset quality is good. It use less power so only one battery can play many hours like advertized
Weakness: SonicStage V 2.0 comes with the product had a lot of problem with my mp3 converting. After I upgrade to 2.2 it works a lot better. And for writing process it used a lot of power.
I'm satified with this product so far with the small size and less power. anyway I rcommend to visit www.sony.com/walkmansuppport to update software and news
Strengths: Audio Quality, Batery Life, Ease of use
Weakness: No AC/DC power option. No recording except through USB. No onboard titling or playlist editing. No Mac/Linux support.
This is a great portable music player. Sound quality is excellent and it has long playback time on a single AA battery. As far as MD players go, these inexpensive Net MD players are a little short on features (such as analog recording, title editing, and track reordering). Playlists (groups), track titles, and the order of tracks must be edited while connected via USB to a PC. The supplied...
Strengths: Nice and small, good sound quality, long battery life, AM/FM/TV/Weatherband, and a remote control with LCD screen.
Weakness: Headphones look cheap...No mic built-in.
Although I haven't had it for that long, I have noticed that the sound quality is better than a typical MP3 player. One of the cons may be that the there are a lot of buttons and it is a bit complicated to use. But aside from that I am pretty satisfied with my purchase of this product. I LOVE SONY!!

Sony MZ-N420D NET MD PLAYER/RECORDER
Strengths: The player itself works very well. The storage capacity on the 80mB disks is very impressive, it averages about 52 songs in the LP2 format, which allows for a fairly quick transfer of media.
Weakness: The software package is clunky and unreliable. The included headphones are small, uncomfortable, and extremely limited. The USB cable included is poor quality, and I've replaced the one included.
This is a great entry level player, one that I've found to be as versatile as any of my higher end players. The inability to my my Hi-MDs is unfortunate, but it is something that must simply be accepted. For what you're paying for this piece of hardware (if your PC can support it), you will not be dissappointed. All weaknesses aside, a great entry level purchase that'll have you coming back for...
