i love this player. it is a nice compact player that can record video to watch later on your computer. i know that you can use tivo for that but they require a subscription and all that extra crap. anyways, it's great to record shows. the quality of the videos may depend on the input but it's pretty good if you want to watch it on you laptop. i hate that they require you to pay extra for plugins...

This is way the best player I have ever had. Apple's garbage is way inferior. It just does so much: -Big nice screen -Very good audio quality -Very good video quality (720*480 output) -Plays every video file I tried (DivX, Xvid, wmv, mov....) -USB and USB host 2.0 (to transfer pictures from the digital camera) -No picture resolution limitation
Strengths: Nice screen, interchangable wallpapers, potential AAC, AC3 support (if willing to pay extra), great audio and video quality
Weakness: poor battery life, no AC charger, expansive accessories.
Very competitive to any other portable mp3/video players. I am very happy with the sound and video quality. I did not loose anything when switched from 30gb video ipod. I actually gained a bigger screen and more audio and video codecs to play (of course for additional price). Frankly, my ipod friends are a wee bit jealous with my Archos 404 at the moment.

I BOUGHT THIS ITEM FOR MY SON,S BIRTHDAY AND UNFORTUNATLY HAD TO SEND IT BACK TWICE BECAUSE THE BATTERY WOULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE BOTH TIMES. THIS CAUSE A DELAY IN HIM BEING ABLE TO USE THIS ITEM. THE GOOD NEWS IS THEY ACCEPTED MY RETURN BOTH TIMES WITH OUT ANY PROBLEM.
