This is a really nice system for under $200. It's very easy to install. It comes with a mic that you plug-in to auto calibrate the system. You just place the mic where you would be sitting and it will calibrate. Comes with a digital audio coaxial cable. I have that connected to my DVD. Sounds very nice. Watching action/epic movies are awesome. System can do Dolby and DTS encoding. There are some...
Strengths: Auto Calibaration, Easy setup, good quality, the best for money can buy
Weakness: None yet
Very good. Has superb sound quality. For a not too complicated home theater and for starter this is a good buy. Its got good base too. Has all the new technologies around currently.
Strengths: Price and performance.
Weakness: Don't expect floor shaking output.
Installed this in my bedroom and the sound is just perfect. As what have been stated, the wires are attached but used RCA cable extension. Watching movies in 5.1 with privacy is priceless. Sound calibration was easy. Got this while on sale so I was very happy.
Strengths: Great sound on 5.1 feeds like FM and DVD's
Weakness: regular tv just stereo
For the price this was one of the best xmas presents I purchased. The microphone speaker tuning system is excellent for a first timer to set up this system. Sound is above average for value priced systems
Strengths: Price, auto-calibration, sound settings
Weakness: no HDMI, attached speaker wires, weak sound
This home theater system is good enough for one's first receiver, for a small room. The wattage is inflated, and the highest level of sound is not enough for an average sized living room with high ceiling. Your room might be large enough, that you would need to splice speaker wires, as the wires are attached to the speaker. The autocalibration is a very nice feature. Overall, it's an affordable...
Strengths: A compact 5.1 sound system with nice sound. Auto calibration.
Weakness: Inflated wattage. Complicated menu system.
A compact 5.1 sound system with nice sound. Great if you are taking this overseas for family. Auto calibration takes the guess work out of making complex settings manually. Resulting sound is very good, though not earth shattering. Quoted 800Watts is inflated though. Sound is no were close to that. More like 200W.
Strengths: Sony, Sound Quality, Sturdy components
Weakness: Speaker wires not long enough, Heavy receiver, Little complex installation process
I have had this Sony home theater system for more than a week and I am very pleased with its performance and value. Sound out of it simply superb. It proves that it is Sony. I got more than what I expected for a $180 home theater and I highly recommend this home theater. Weaknesses (see listed above) does not bother me much. For me, it has got enough input and output ports. This may not be true...
Strengths: 5.1; good user manual; nice finish for the speakers and receiver; sound quality is good
Weakness: the speakers have wire attached to them. This might be good for the quality but sometimes is difficult to wire in a room when you need to put the wires in the wall or you have pre-wired your room.
Overall, it is a great system. The sound quality is good but not great. It worth the money you paid. Because of the attached wire, you can not use your pre-layouted wires and you may not be able to change the wire if the wire fails.
Strengths: Easy to setup, friendly remote, deep bass
Weakness: Would like more inputs
I have used this system to play CDs and listen to FM radio. I couldn't be more pleased. I plan to also use it for DVDs. It didn't take long to get it setup and running. My CDs sounds awesome. Another feature that is very nice is the ability to plug in your MP3 player. I would recommend it.

good starter package
Strengths: Auto-Cal, Portable Audio Input, Easy Installation
Weakness: Number of Inputs, Attached Wire Speakers
I picked up this system for a total of $85 after coupons and certificates from Best Buy and was very very pleased with it. The next cheapest system there was around $220, and not much of a step up at all. Great system to start out with. It is currently hooked up in my room, where I sit about 5' away from the tv, so the sound is not a problem at all.
