Strengths: Easy set up, Space saver, Very good cinema sound. Universal remote control.
Weakness: Over priced, No control settings for base/treble/balance. No speaker stands. Average bass.
Nice system for watching movies/tv/dvd/vcr etc. Very good cinema sound with just 3 speakers but not a true surround set up and bass is only average. Enjoyable system that should be about $ 200.00 cheaper.
Strengths: Good fidelity. Much better sound than could ever be aforded through standard TV speakers.
Weakness: No equalizer settings. Much more difficult to install than advertized, particularly when using separate cable box.
Connection required contacting Bose service rep and local Bose store. Bose store suggested purchase of a splitter based upon advise given to another customer with similar problem on different HD TV. After experimenting for some time. splitter was not necessary.
Strengths: looks nifty and makes you feel cool when people ask "You have bose speakers?"
Weakness: everything except the level of niftiness noted in strengths.
Installation was easy. Better have somewhere to set the speakers or else you'll need to purchase the outragously overpriced metal poles to hang them on. Yes, metal poles, $100. During normal use (cable) you can detect a loud noise often produced when you feed too much power to poor quality speakers. During movies the noise remains. Playing a music cd in the dvd player puts the speakers to shame....
Strengths: Great sound coming from two speakers and a bass module. Easy setup and takes little space. Basically idiot proof!
Weakness: A bit expensive, maybe a $150 - $200 less would have been perfect for this home theatre speaker system. Only works well in small space like the bedroom and small living room.
I read some of the reviews complaining about the lack of bass coming from the Acoustimass module. I did notice it first but I realize that it wasn't really that weak. Some bass module produce thundering bass but more often too much and ruins the whole sound quality. But this speaker system seems to deliver a balanced sound that I was looking for in a speaker system . Not too loud but loud enough...
Strengths: typical good, but not great Bose sound
Weakness: wiring/connectors and lack of control
Bose implies in their advertising that with this low-end($500!!!)system AND $70 extra for the Bose mounting brackets, you can mount these speakers on the wall and hide the wiring. Can't be done. You would need to punch a hole almost as big as the speakers to get the huge connectors routed through your wall. This is a barely adequate system despite the false advertising. No controls for...
Strengths: Huh?
Weakness: Expensive! H U G E base speakers. Missing manual pages. Poor tech support.
Bought this system mainly to have good sounds without having to run wiring all over the living room with Plasma TV on fireplace. Well there are 4 items that needs to be wired - and wires are quite THICK. Base speaker is H U L K I N G in the fireplace. Cannot setup remote control for Panasonic TV. The remote control codes are missing the pages that has the brand for my TV and DVD. Tech support not...
Strengths: Sounds much better than TV speakers....relatively easy to setup
Weakness: The "acoustic module" does almost nothing in my 20x12 room. There are no controls for bass/treble.
Overall this was a waste of money. $500 is definately way overprice for this. BOSE is known for their brainwash marketing and this is a great example. I've noticed no surround sound effect, they don't go very loud and there is no bass. I had a $150 logitech system for my Desktop PC that sounded much better. If this system was available for under $200 then maybe it would be worth the time to try...
Strengths: easy to set-up, very universal remote
Weakness: price, lack of adjustments
This is a system suited for the average audiophile, who doesn't mind not adjusting the sound (bass/treble). The biggest drawback is that if your TV has a digital coax audio output only (see Magnavox), like mine you will need to get creative on the cabling setup. If only they put a second audio input (digital coax) in the interface box. At first I was not happy with not being able to adjust...
Strengths: It produces quality sound
Weakness: Cant get sound from the system using HD signals from my Hitachi TV. Way overpriced and lacks a true receiver.
After spending weeks trying to get this system to produce sound from my TV. I was informed that due to copyright laws, I am not able to get sound when connected to my televisions HDMI or component cables and since there is only one input on the bose module. I can only get sound from one device at a time plugging directly into the Bose module, unless I split the sound using two female Y-cables....

Not what I expected
Strengths: Better sound quality than my TV speakers, No wires running across the room
Weakness: Everything else
Bought this system at a Bose outlet as a refurb for $300, thinking I was getting an amazing deal. Now i know why they had so many factory refurbished units to resell. The system only works when plugged directly into my cable box or dvd player, which will require me to buy a splitter box for the RCA cables unless I feel inclined to crawl behind my entertainment system and re-route the cables every...
