I spent several weeks researching every brand of receiver imaginable. After doing so I narrowed my choice to the Pioneer VSX1014 and the Yamaha. Very pleased so far. I can't stop messing with it. Just like any new toy or piece of equipment. Sounds great. Pretty easy to set up. Takes some patience to go step by step. Make notes as you go along. The remote is sweet.

I bought the Yamaha 1500 with the Klipsch Synergy series speakers and it has turned out to be a great pairing. The system has very good clarity and the automatic (YMAO) speaker setup is pretty good for quick setup of your surround sound. For a mid line stereohome theater option I highly recommend the Yamaha 1500.

I upgraded from a technics to the 1500. It's like having a whole new system I hear sounds in my cd's I've never heard before. The 7.1 stereo mode fills the room with music and the sound separation while watching movies is like being in a theater. I prefer the design of the RXV over the HTR series.
