Strengths: Excellent features; it has everything that you want in a receiver
Weakness: Runs very hot, and very heavy
I purchased the Onkyo TX-SR875 because of its features, THX Ultra2, upconversion REON VX etc. I am very happy with this receiver, so far I have encountered no problems. It is true that this receiver runs extremely hot, but I solved this problem by buying a ten dollar fan at Walt-Mart. I have kept this baby running for 8 hours, listening cd's, and the fan keeps it cool. I hope this baby continues...
Strengths: Tons of flexibility and LOADS of power!
Weakness: Can Double as a space heater!
Have been owned many Onkyo receivers over the last 20+ years and they have always offered a lot of bang for the buck! The TX-SR875 is no exception. I also looked at the comparable models from Yamaha and Denon. I wound up opting for the Onkyo for the sound quality, abundant power and especially the Reon upconverting for standard DVD's. I like the ability to plug in several HDMI devices like HD DVD...
Strengths: onboard Silicon Optix Reon HQV video processing chip IS AWESOME,1080 p any signal via the 3 hdmi connections
Weakness: VERY HOT AND HEAVY.
1ST THE bad of this receiver is that it gets extremely hot. Not to the point it will burn your house down but it will hurt your hand. To beat this i may buy a notebook cooler like i did for my playstation 3. Works like a gem. Now everything about this receiver is incredible this is my second Onkyo and it took me away from Yamaha which i used to swear by. IT sounds incredible and so crystal clear...
Strengths: 4 HDMI 1.3 inputs / 1 HDMI 1.3 output HQV Reon-VX Video Processing (1080p)
Weakness: Slight audio sync delay Receiver does get very warm
I had considered the Onkyo TX-SR875, the Denon AVR3808CI, and Yamaha RXV2700 and found that the TX-SR875 was the best value for your money audio/video receiver. It has 4 HDMI 1.3 inputs. What sold me on this receiver was the 1080p video processing using the highly acclaimed Reon-VX chip. Because of the great reviews this receiver has gotten, it is hard to find in stock at retailers.
Strengths: most bang for your buck. Has all the features you will need for high end audio and High Def. Video
Weakness: heavy and hot
I purchased the Onkyo TX-SR875 because of it's extensive features. THX Ultra2, 4 HDMI inputs, upscaling of video, and it's low distortion numbers. All those feature and much less costly than a comparable Denon. I had an Onkyo receiver before and the weight and heat were issues with that receiver also. Those are minor issues considering all that the Onkyo delivers.
Strengths: Looks amazing, Has plenty of connections for anything, Loud and sounds crystal clear. Haven't had any problems with anything. Wonderful
Weakness: A Little heavy but its alright. Does get a little hot but it a great product.
Would recommend to anyone who loves sound in general. Great look and design. beautiful all the way. Buy this receiver today and i guarantee you will love it. Go and get it today.
Strengths: Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver the destroyer
Weakness: The Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver destroyed my lcd tv. The top of the case above the hdmi output was hot enough to fry eggs on.
The Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver burned out the hdmi inputs to my lcd tv as soon as I turned the power on. Onkyo technical support could not offer me a solution and hung-up on me when I asked them to pay for the damage to my lcd tv. I have not been able to get any programming source to work over the hdmi connection to my lcd tv since the Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver damage it. I have returned the Onkyo...
Strengths: Lots of features, Dolby HD, DTS HD
Weakness: Slow to switch sources, expensive
I upgraded to the TX-SR875 from an Onkyo TX-SR703 mainly because I was out of HD inputs on my receiver and the TX-SR875 has not only component video but HDMI inputs as well. I was also wanting the new Dolby HD decoding but have since learned it only decodes Dolby HD from Bitstream players. Sony PS3 can output Dolby HD over PCM to the receiver, so you really only need a 7.1 receiver with an HDMI...
The Onkyo TX-SR875 is a high-end 7.1 channel audio/video receiver as part of Onkyos latest lineup of products supporting HDMI 1.3a. Along with the flagship Onkyo TX-NR905, the TX-SR875 are the first receivers to include Silicon Optixs acclaimed Reon-VX HQV video processing chip that effectively up-rezzes all video sources to 1080p. The receiver features 4 HDMI inputs, and 1 HDMI output delivering...

Onkkyo TX-SR875 Receiver
Strengths: Great Sound, fairly easy to set-up, I'm no technician by any means.
Weakness: Gets very hot even though it's well vented. I wouldn't leave it on all day unattended.
I've only had this receiver a few days and so far so good. The sound quality far surpasses my 15 year old receiver. You have sound that truly "surrounds" even with old speakers it's hard to tell one from the other. The sound is "just there." I haven't had a chance to play any movies or DVDs, just the tuner, CD, and TV. It has a nice large display so you can tell where you are at. There is still a...
