Description
Thanks to the latest surround technology such as Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES and our own Logic 7 processing, in addition to a seven-channel, high-current, ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier, the AVR 525 doesn't miss a beat. Make your program selections from a vast array of digital, analog and wide-bandwidth component video inputs, manage the bass with our Triple Crossover system, and extend the music to a second zone with A-BUS Ready technology or assignable rear-channel amplifiers. Wherever you want your music and movies, however loud you want them, the AVR 525 can handle the job.

Strengths: Very impressive power and clarity.
Weakness: Noise from the cooling fan.
You can either use the system in 7.1 mode, or 5.1 + Remote in which a remote room can listen to a different audio source. "Learning" remote is well laid out and easy to use/program. Because HK insists on TRUE power ratings, the 70 watts per channel is equivalent to other systems rating of roughly 150 Watts. Harman Kardon AVR525 A/V Receiver
Strengths: Kick-butt power, musical clarity and detail,on screen display for setup of unit.
Weakness: The remote has very small buttons. Doesn't bother me but might bother some.
I have been a Harmon-Kardon owner for years (just upgraded from the AVR25-MkII Dolby Pro-logic surround receiver). This AVR525 is one beast of a receiver. Plenty of clean power, lots of encoding/decoding methods (Dolby digital,DTS,Dolby Prologic2,Logic7,etc.)and a nice on screen display for complete set-up. Would HIGHLY recommend this unit.
