Strengths: Good clear sound!
Weakness: None that I can see!
I bought these for my son for Christmas and had to try them out! They have very good crisp sound and I find them comfortable to wear. I like the fact that they fold up for travel!
Strengths: Excellent Sound Quality, durability, price & they fold,
Weakness: The vinyl pads deteriorate after a few years... (yeah, that's the worst I could come up with)
I am working on my third pair of Sony MDR-V6 headphones. I've used them on my home stereo, on the mixing board for mixing live bands, in my walkman, MP3 player, and in my computer. These headphones sound great, are really light weight, travel well because the fold up into themselves, and are affordable. My current pair is about 4 years old, and the sound is still excellent, but the vinyl pads are...
Strengths: Comfortable, compact
Weakness: Can't think of any
This is actually my second pair of Sony MDR-V6 Headphones. From the compact size (that fits neatly in the nice leather carry case) to the lightweight and comfortable design, these are the choice of most broadcast professionals, which is my career field. I liked them so much I decided to go with the same model over newer ones. I had heard they were discontinued, but when I found them I was...
Strengths: Dynamic Bass, Ease of earphone swivel
Weakness: None
I'm a DJ, so go through headphones pretty quickly and haven't found ANY that come close to the comfort and ease of the Sony MDR-V6 for the price. They aren't as bulky as some headsets, but still keep out ambient noise pretty well. I especially like how they remain comfortable even with the one earphone or the other flipped out, which I do occasionally to monitor. The bass is dynamic without being...
Strengths: Clear, non-fatiguing sound, crisp highs, surprisingly strong, articulate and accurate bass. Good isolation. Excellent for home studio recording use. May be the most comfortable sealed ear phones.
Weakness: Nothing significant. A bargain at the price. Oh yeah, the foam ear cups will degrade over the years. (Look how long I've had mine!) But guess what...you can replace 'em!
I have used these phones since I came upon them while working in a music store years ago. I've used them in my home studio, given them as gifts to friends with "real" studios, and used them in my primary profession as a psychotherapist for relaxation tapes, guided meditations and the like. They've held up to little kids, teenage boys, and even teenage girls' barrettes and earrings. I also own...
Strengths: Comfort for extended periods; Good clear sound
Weakness: Wish it kept out more outside noise
I purchased the MDR-V6 after reading multiple positive reviews for the product. I listen to music for extended periods of time at the office and needed something that provided comfort, good sound, and kept out background noise. These headphones meet the 1st 2 critera, but I wish they were able exclude background noise a bit more. I purchased a refurbished unit and have been completely satisified...
Strengths: Strony Bass and very comfortable
Weakness: None
After reading the really positive reviews (Almost 90% recommend it) at many audio web sites, I told myself I have to try this pair of Sony headphones. I live in an apartment so, I don’t have any big stereos or amplifiers to use with. Normally, I use a NetMD Walkman and a CD-Player all the time. When I plugged this headphone to my MD player. It really makes a great dynamic sound. Especially Bass...
Strengths: everything
Weakness: none
excellent phones.. exact same as sony sells with different more expensive model, mdr 7506. Only thing this one doesnt have that the more expensive one does, is a gold plated connector tip, and i think no soft case is included. This one takes the cake!!
Strengths: not bulky,rich bass,folds nicely,deatiled sounds
Weakness: earcups not comfortable
After doing a vast research whether MDR v6 is the same as MDR 7506, I ended upon MDR v6(hoping that its the same).I liked the sound quality and its rich bass. You can't hear the sound from outside at all. I didn't find the earcups comfortable. As per suggested by other users, I replaced those with Beyer DT250 earpads from Location Sound. Now, its far better. It can be carried with ease as it folds...

Sony MDR-V6 Studio Monitor Headphone
Strengths: Sound!
Weakness: ear pads
This is my second pair. My 1st pair was purchased in 1988 and is STILL going strong! I was looking around for a 2nd pair of headphones, and did my reasearch... these are still as highly rated and competitive as the ones I bought 17 years ago!! Only drawback are the earpads. Just replace them with the EDT 250 V from beyerdynamic and you're done!!
