Sony MDR-NC6 Headphone

Strengths: weight, style, comfort, noise canceling ability, sound reproduction

Weakness: construction

The NC6 is an excellent value given the sound quality and sensitivity (106 db/W w/noise canceling; 104 db/W w/o). I use them primarily at the office (software QA mgr), wearing them for up to 4-5 hrs/day while working and have not found them to be uncomfortable at all (though the foam ear covers do get itchy sometimes). They are very lightweight and the noise canceling feature is effective at...

Good product for a good price

Strengths: Significantly reduces plane and car noise; Reasonable price

Weakness: Does not reduce low frequency noise

I purchased the Sony noise canceling headphones prior to a plane trip. I unfortunately had a seat in the very back row of both segments of my destination flight. It was very loud since the engines were mounted at the rear of the plane. The headphones significantly reduced the noise although not all of the noise. Low frequency sounds were not cancelled. Thanks to the noise canceling feature, I was...

Sony MDR-NC6 Headphone

Strengths: Brand you can trust, fairly inexpensive, comes with carrying case, and good, clear sound.

Weakness: Unfoldable, and a bit uncomfortable.

You pretty much get what you pay for with these headphones. They are not too pricey, the sound is pretty good, but I find them a bit uncomfortable after a while. Aside from that, you're purchasing a product from a trusted brand. I would recommend this product.

Not perfect, but definitely better

Strengths: Noise cancelling, extra volume

Weakness: noise cancelling only seems to work well on lower volume noises

We bought these because during a previous plane trip trying to watch a movie on our PSP from memory stick, the volume was so low and the noise so loud in the plane that we couldn't hear anything. After doing some research, these seemed to be a good buy especially for the price. I would say they do a good job of cancelling noise but the airplane is just too loud. These headphones don't cup over...

Sony MDR-NC6 Headphone

Strengths: Price, weight, reputation

Weakness: No 1/4 inch adapter.

Looked at several NC headphones. I even tried the expensive BOSE NC headphones and finally settled on SONY NC-6. I received them today and used in various situations. I ma actually quite happy with the product. Good NC. Used during treadmill - it cut down the low motor rumble to nil, but not high pitched belt noise. It cuts down noise while travelling in a car and also the noises in and around...

Sony MDR-NC6 Headphone

Strengths: price is good, sound qualiy is good, noise Canceling works well

Weakness: none so far

I bought this noise Canceling Headphones before i took a long distance flight a few months ago. This headphones worked well for me in reducing the noise around while at the same time presenting the good sound from the audio source.I chose this kind rather than the plug-in one was because i can feel more seperated from the outside world when my whole ears are covered. I am not an expert in sound...

Sony MDR-NC6 Headphone

Strengths: Comfort, appearance, sound quality. Electronics & battery are inside headphone and not on some separate clunky module.

Weakness: Not foldable. Slight noise floor when cancellation is ON.

Took this on a 14 hour plane ride and found it comfortable enough to where it most of my trip. Noise cancellation worked pretty well, drowning out most of the engine noise. Like most lower priced noise cancelling headphones, when it's ON, there is a low level hiss where the noise floor essentially is raised. However, Sony compensates by boosting music audio levels along with it, so you don't...

OK product at a fair price

Strengths: Includes carrying pouch; battery compartment is in a great location; seems to work fairly well; includes adapter for commercial (not GA) aircraft; sounds OK

Weakness: Continuing headset-generated (not ambient) noise

I've about "had" it with trying to listen to my iPod Nano on commercial acft. I think I like this unit. The only major "issue" I've found is that after the unit is turned on a continuous low-level hum ("white noise," actually) is present. The only way to kill ti is to turn the unit off. My feeling is that this is not the headset for you for every day use. Use it to reduce the level of ambient...

Sony MDR-NC6 Headphone

Strengths: Light, easy to use, comfortable on my head, I really enjoy them.

Weakness: Slight hiss audible between songs, generated by the headset itself.

For the money, I don't think there is a better set of NC headphones. Perfect on a plane, they are a good mix between noise cancelling and hearing what the flight attendant is asking you. I would buy them again without hesitation.

Sony MDR-NC6 Headphone

Strengths: nice sound, nice design and nice price

Weakness: It will creat some hissing noise when power is on

I bought this item because it is called noise cancelling headphones. If i would not have expected too high, this one is perhaps a nice one with relatively nice sound quality and nice price. But for its brand and its name, i may say that this headphone's noise cancellation feature seems just working (i put too much trust on SONY)... and the hissing noise that generates when power-on are annoying!!I...
