Strengths: Very good bass, Way better overall clarity than my other Sony EX51's. I can actually hear whats going on around me, unlike the EX51's that completely block out outside sound.
Weakness: Sound leakage. But I'm not into too many places where it has to be completely quiet. Oh well, I don't mind if someone sitting near me hears what I'm listening to, I'm not ashamed of my metal music :)
I actually like the design of these earphones and I don't think they look like Frankenstein thingys. Point is, these are way better than EX51's and Stock Apple buds, hands down.
Strengths: None
Weakness: Price and lack of bass
These ear buds are not worth the money, I have the Sony 51, 71 and 81's and they are wonderful, but for twice the price - they are not worth the investment. They claim that the bass is much stronger, not the case. I tested these with my older Sony's and could not tell any difference. Yes, I have good hearing and pride myself on the quality of sound; I have tried many of the ear bud units made by...
Strengths: well balanced
Weakness: If you are a super bass fan, This may not you choice.
The sound is very balanced. The bass is not as overwhelming as in the EX71, CX300. They are not as sound isolating as typical IEMs.They are very comfortable and really stay in the ears during vigorous physical activity more so than all of my other earbuds.
Strengths: Quality
Weakness: Lack of treble
I bought this for my ipod touch. I had to use my ipod earphones back because this SONY MDR-EX90LP EX90 has too much bass. There is no balance between BASS and TREBLE. I tried listening to bunch of songs and the result is the same. Very nice ear phones, but bass is too much, it "overcomes" the treble. I just use it as a spare.
Strengths: Great sound; comfortable fit; attractive aluminum housings; fairly durable; handy neckchain-style cord.
Weakness: May be too large for smaller ears; included case is cumbersome to use; kinda pricey for what you get.
These are really good headphones, but not as good as the price would have you believe. The hype is that they're made of better materials for more durability, and the part in-ear/part on-ear design is supposed to sound better than other Sony headphones. They sure do look nice, with brushed aluminum housings for the 'phones, and they still work fine after three months, no thanks to the included...
Strengths: Everything
Weakness: None
Bought these after comparing them to Shure E2C and Bose triport IE. Have to say I was a little weary about purchasing a pair of $100 earphones that I didn't have a chance to listen to before. I was completely impressed. First thing you notice is the bass. Not just hard hitting, but low frequencies that you wouldn't notice unless you had a high end sub next to you. The mids are good and the highs...

Sony MDREX90LP almost lives up to the price tag.
Strengths: Clean sound with better and more defined bass than other earphones in its price range. Decent looking design. Good for walking around: you don't hear the ruffling of the wind or your footsteps.
Weakness: Not as loud as other sets I've tried, even in a completely quiet area which means less battery life for your listening device. With Sony, we always expect the best but this set is only above average.
This set of earphones is pretty much what you would expect from a set at this price. I bought them for $79.99 and have to say that they aren't a disappointment or a spectacular product at its price range. My main comparisons to the mdrex90lp were the Ultimate Ear super.fi 3 & the Sennheiser CX300's. This set is definitely stronger than the CX300's in every aspect. The bass is cleaner and deeper...
