Strengths: Great product if you can get it under $700 Gets me to where I need to go. Great features where I can drill down a map to pick a location where I want to go. Didn't need to read manual to use.
Weakness: Sometimes it does not use the fastest route, but the key is to get me there, and that is what is does.
If you took a wrong turn, it will automatically get you back on track by setting a new route. The screen display could be better during the day. The glear makes it hard to read sometimes. The unit is nice size, but I wish it could be smaller. Basically it's a great product! Easy to use and learn. Didn't even read the manual and I was on the way.
Strengths: Amazingly accurate geo-positioning. Rapid satellite acquiring. Very fast route recalculation. Idiot-proof menus. Lots of options. Nice, compact design. Loud, crystal clear sound.
Weakness: Inaccurate or inexistent mapping of some suburban and rural areas. POI’s are limited and in many cases outdated. Does not display street name if it’s a numbered State or County Road. Voice assistance not present for some interstate access ramps.
I’ve been using GPS devices for both terrestrial and blue water navigation for many years. Of course the units designed to help find your way in the middle of an ocean are very accurate but they are also ridiculously expensive. TomTom GO 700 proves that geo-positioning accuracy and price are not necessarily related. I tested my new toy in cloudy conditions on a known position (previously...
Strengths: Bright screen, easy to use, good voice selection
Weakness: Mine had several problems, listed in the Comments
The first address I punched in was my previous address. A complex built 10 years ago, but TomTom said there is no such address. In my present town I have taken several trips just to test it out. It is helpful and accurate, but there is a bug -- all numeric sts/avs are shown double. e.g. 11th Street displays as 11 11 Street. There were NO exeptions to this--this is a city of numeric streets and...
Strengths: big display, loud speakers, map software excellent for my area, lots of ability to personalize - voices, language, color of display
Weakness: Problems with glare (although it is said to be as good as any dash mount unit in this regard), battery life and metering
I am extremely pleased with the Tom Tom Go 700. It is easy to use out of the box and the features above distinguish it from competitors. Navigation is like having a Summer home instead of staying in a motel. Once you get it, you can't live without it. Just this past weekend the Go 700 saved me 15 minutes on a frequently made trip showing me a much better route. Besides saving time, it allows you...
Strengths: Excelent user interface. Multiple language support. Nice graphics. Well thought-out package.
Weakness: Inteligent choice of best route. GPS reception.
I have had the Tom Tom Go 700 for a week now, and overall I found it a good gadget for the car. Just like any other GPS/Navigation system, it is truly indispensable when traveling to an area that you do not know very well. I chose it over other systems because I believed it to have excellent multilanguage support. I am Greek, my wife is Hungarian, and while we live in the US we have some...
Strengths: straight from the box, it's easy to use. no need to download maps from PC. Fun to play with, has night-time colors to reduce glare, multiple voices for directions- male, female, different languages.
Weakness: Oddly shaped, wish it was more recttangle/square to fit better in a travel bag, briefcase or purse
Shows points of interest,i.e. hotels, gas stations, hospitals, etc. This is my first GPS & very happy with it. Have friends with GPS systems but TomTom is easier to use. Highly recommended!
Strengths: Easy to read screen and good looking unit in car.
Weakness: Limitation admitted by company that you can only store 50 favorites. Unit resets itself spontaniously about 3 times a day. Map was off by alost 500 yds in areas of Canada on a trip.
Although I really like the docking station and ergonomics of the unit it is a real dissapointment. I use this for business and only being able to store 50 favorites leaves me haveing to enter address all the time. Try calling TomTom customer service, you get an answering machine 90% of the time. My TomTom is curently with them on a warranty return. I used to have a garmin and would trade mine...
Strengths: Easy to use and read. Multiple languages are just plain fun to play with.
Weakness: Copy mobile Nokia 6600 phone numbers to TomTom says "This feature not supported". Rarely comes up with the fastest route, especially during rush hours. Resets itself for no apparent reason.
It has a very intuitive user interface. It's fun to play around with the different langages. It's a great device for navigating in unfamiliar places. It des not allow me to download my Nokia 6600 phone numbers, saying "This feature is not supported". It resets itself at the exact same point every day on my way to work for no apparent reason. It rarely comes up with the fastest route, especially...
Strengths: easy to set up .. very accurate..slick idiot proof menu.
Weakness: screen in daylight is hard to view..
This is an excellent unit.. fast set up out of the box..accurate and an easy menu to use..the screen is hard to view at times in the daytime..I am pleased that I have purchased this GPS

Solid GPS
Strengths: Easy to use User can customize features such as voices Can pair up with bluetooth phone Good software
Weakness: maps and POIs not as updated as other GPS some glare and hard to see in BRIGHT sunlight
Each GPS device has features that will appeal differently to each user. So there is no clear winner, just best fit. I like that the TT7 pairs up and acts as a hands free device with my bluetooth phone. I can also use this pairing to check traffic and weather on my route using the internet connection. You have change many things in the TT7, like loading other navigation voices, such as Darth Vader...
