Strengths: Works well, and it is reliable
Weakness: MSN Direct is not correct. The Gas prices are never the same as what the unit says. It takes you off a highway, or road and puts you right back on the same road. Which could cause an accident.
I think the unit is good, and yes it is reliable, however the Map is very wrong. Examples: I liive in Las Vegas Nevada. It tells you that the Frontier is still open, is has been imploded long ago. It says that it has Air Way and other shows at the Tropicana, but the shows no longer exist. It gives you roads that have been changed or no longer exist. The MSN is sometimes off on the traffic alerts,...
Strengths: User friendly, tons of options, bright screen, easy to use menus
Weakness: FM traffic is not always up to date, may be a little less sensitive then older flip antenna models
I used this for a few weeks and decided to sell it for a cheaper Garmin nuvi 750 model. I did not need traffic updates or bluetooth. I love my 750 and would have kept the 780 but I did not need all of the bells and whistles. The 7 series are very very nice GPS units and they wont cost an arm and a leg.

A good first GPS
Strengths: Simple to use with tons of features. Very fast satellite signal pickup. Decent route suggestion. Fast re-calculating new route. Great bluetooth pairing. Love MSN Direct for gas price listing.
Weakness: 1. FM transmission is weak. 2. Voice sound a bit robotic. 3. Must connect to power cable to use MSN direct. 4. Graphic is a bit cartoonish.
This is my first GPS and must say that I'm quite impressed with the unit. Quite good value for the money. As I did more research on different models and features, I would have bought 785t model (if I have to do it over) because of the "Lane Guidance" feature and better 3D map view. If you don't need those advanced features, then 780 is for you.
