decent GPS unit

Strengths: simple to use, 4" screen, strong mount, MP3, good price

Weakness: does not have rechargeable feature or battery option for portability

I was looking for a navigation unit prior to Thanksgiving 2006 and was hoping to see if anything would come about on black friday. Obviously there was, but quantity on specials are always limited. A week or two has passed and I notice the FINEDRIVE 400 in one of my shopping places. Purchased it as there was a rebate. Took it home and set up the unit using the quick set up guide. Relatively simple...

Good unit for $200

Strengths: Large display. fast GPS lock.

Weakness: Map is not very accurate for rural area. Map seems older then census tiger file in some cases. Missing a lot of points of interests.

The unit does not have internal battery, not a huge deal. but it would be nice to be able to use it outside of a car every once in a while. Turn by turn voice directions is good. Volume is loud and sound is clear. Re-route calculation is pretty good as well. My unit maybe newer and it started lock on to GPS satellite connected under 30 seconds. When I first tested it with a 2-year-old $5000...

Good GPS for the money

Strengths: Cheap, 4" screen, Easy to use, MP3 with FM module, good speakers

Weakness: No DVD/CD, $99 to buy maps on DVD, no headset plug

It's a good buy, just as good as any of the more expensive ones out there. a few things i don't like 1) All US maps are on a SD card, but there's no DVD/CD with the package, you have to pay $99 to buy from another website, no download from fine digital. 2) no headset plug, i can't plug it into my car's tape player 3) windshield mount is good, but the clip thing in the back is a pain, not very...

Finedrive 400 review

Strengths: Price touch pad voice directions all the bells and whistles found in units twice the price.

Weakness: None that I see.

This is my first GPS. For the driving I do it is perfect. I only use the GPS once in a while. Most of my driving is to locations that I am familiar with. It sure is great though if you are looking for a restaurant or just trying to find an address you have never been to. I usually use it as an MP3 player. It sure beats fumbling with the thumb wheel on my ipod. It is also much safer. It is nice to...

Finedrive 400 In car Navigation

Strengths: Everything is already preloaded

Weakness: Can't use the MP3 function and GPS at same time

This unit would be very good if it was not for the fact that it is one or the other of the functions that you can use. If you are using Navigation, you can't listen to MP3 and vice versa. Other than that, it is a good unit that will help you get where you want to go and have never been before.

Finedrive 440 great GOS

Strengths: have used it locally and found all routes.

Weakness: place to store stylis (minor)

I have used it locally, and have had great results. I have "finally" been able to contact tech support, and they are sending me a map update on dvd to copy to my sd card that came with the Finedrive.

FineDrive 400 In-Car Nav System

Strengths: Large LCD Screen, great accuracy, and easy to operate

Weakness: A bit slow compare to the Nav system that comes stock, but all the add-on Nav system are all slow. Not a ture portable, since it does not have a battery and need to be plug in at all times.

The adjustable display is great in all lighting conditions. The mapping system is amazingly accurate, knowing what street and hundred block I am on within 10 feet or so. The navigation section guides you to a location via voice command and on-screen display. It has preloaded maps of USA and Canada with major attractions like parks, museums, hotels, restaurants by the thousands. No monthly cost...
