We developed a problem where some faxes were not received and not others. Replacing the machine with a new one (same model) solved the problem for a time. The problem must be with the machine and not the phone line since using a different fax machine solves the problem. Basically this machine seems to be reliable for about 1 1/2 - 2 years. If you don't mind replacing it every 1-2 years, other than that it is a good machine.

Fax (as above)
Strengths: Easy to install.Easy to use.Great for home use.Makes clear copies.
Weakness: None that I am aware of.
This is my second Intellifax 1270e.An ink line appeared about 2" in from the right side. When I called the company they tried to be helpful but finally recommended a repair place.Since the repair would cost almost as much as a new one we opted to buy the same model. We wouldn't have gone that route if we didn't like it.

Strengths: Reliable and inexpensive
This fax machine is very reliable and performs very well for the price I paid. It exceeded my expectations and after a year of use there has been no problem.

IntelliFAX 1270e Plain Paper Memory Fax Copier 14.4KBPS 512K Mem
Strengths: Good quality
Weakness: Fairly basic machine
If you are looking for a good, basic fax machine and copier, the BROTHER Intellifax 1270 is a good choice for a reasonably priced fax machine. Keep looking if you want all the bells and whistles of a multi-function high-tech machine.

Brother 1270E Fax
Strengths: Easy of use.
I found this very easy to operate. I've had no problems sending or receiving faxes. I don't use the phone on the unit but the TAD works well with my independant phone/answering machine. It's perfect for low volume faxing.
