Strengths: -CHEAP -Does HDMI and 1080P -Supports DIVX -Nice Slim Look
Weakness: Doesn't support ALL media (as is with most dvd players)
Okay, for those of us with brains, we KNOW that using a DVD format on a 1080p upconversion will NOT make a picture improvement. The HDMI cable might make the picture slightly more crisp in some cases, but the old adage rings true -just as it always has- , Say it with me... "Garbage in, garbage out". It's like saying, "my internet is slow, so if I upgrade to a faster computer that's going to help...
Strengths: HDMI capability
Weakness: 1080p achievement is not quite there.
I've been using this unit for 2 weeks. It's great out of the box. No messy setup, no instruction needed. S-Video and RCA works great on old TV's. However, when I plugged in the RGB my screen turned zigzag. SD 6000 doesn't have a RGB setting for non-progressive like to old players. So if you are using this player on OLD TV's that have RGB expect to get ZigZag lines.
Strengths: The picture quality is fantastic, upconvert to 1080p for new LCD tv with 1080p support.
Weakness: Cheesy remote and slow response
Very slim dvd player with divx playback support. The picture quality is fantastic when connect with a HDMI cable to a 1080p LCD tv. Does not play scratch or damage disc very well. Does not include a HDMI cable.
Strengths: No problems with any type of DVD's. DIVX playback is superb.
Weakness: None.
I bought the player for the Up-convert feature. I only used the RGB because I didn't buy the HDMI cable. The picture quality is great for 1080i. Thus, I don't have to re-buy my old movies on HD-DVD or Blu-ray. The digital audio is crisp and clear. I didn't detect any noises in the DTS & DD mode. CD audio is typical of all DVD players.
Strengths: Compactness, price
Weakness: Mediocre upconversion
This is a very nice DVD player with good picture output at decent price. Its compactness can fit anywhere in a entertainment center. The upconversion does not show any noticeable improvement though.

Toshiba SD6000 DVD Player (HDMI)
Strengths: This is a lower end DVD player but it is a very good value and the feature set is more than you might expect. The single cable HDMI connection carries both audio and video in a pure digital format.
Weakness: Upconversion does not significantly improve picture quality. The supplied remote control has dark gray keys with black lettering which is very difficult to see in a darkened room.
I'm glad I purchased this DVD player because it performs well and is relatively inexpensive. It's gloss black/brushed aluminum front panel matches the styling of my Toshiba 42LZ196 TV which is a top-of-the-line 42" LCD Cinema Series Pro. The HDMI output allows for a single cable to carry both audio and video in a pure digital format. This sure beats using 5 cables to carry component video and...
