General
Crutchfield: Yes
Strengths: Sony name, HDMI, component, optical audio out, this unit hasn't had the 'firmware' issues as other Sonys.
Weakness: Silver color only.
I looked for awhile to find an HDMI 1080i capable DVD player. I have a Sony KDFE60A20 LCD HDTV (wish my tv had 2 HDMI inputs...) and wanted a DVD player that could use it to the hilt. I check MANY places online for reviews not just here, other brands or even models of Sony had a random scary review. This one had few to none so I took the leap. I like the design and silver color though others...
Strengths: Sharp looking, upconvert, speed variable rewind and fast forward, and great price.
Weakness: Could have come in black
I have a standard 32" RCA TV, but am planning on getting a 42" Panasonic Plasma so I can use the upconvert. Love the variable speed rewind and fast forward and it plays all burned CD's so far as well as back ups of DVD's. I will modify when I get to test the upconvert. Also, the last DVD Player was a Phillips and it sucked. Was Picky with which media it would play, and it always had to be cleaned...
Strengths: Terrific picture quality. Ease of use.
Weakness: None so far
Purchased the Sony NS90V along with a Sony 30HS420 Wide Screen HD Ready TV. My goal was to purchase a DVD player from a manufacturer with a good tract record, provided high quality video and audio and was easy to use. Within five minutes had both units in place, HDMI cable hooked up and power on. The audio does not quite measure up to my NAD DVD player but to video is superior. Since my main...
Strengths: 720p/1080i Upscaling, SA-CD
Weakness: none
I have done extensive research on DVD players with HDMI connection. This SONY is by far the best value out there. It delivers fantastic picture quality to any HDTV. It is packed with features and delivers SONY quality, at less than $170. The SA-CD playback is a huge bonus. Not too long ago, you had to pay four times this price just to get such CD player. Even normal CDs sound better on this...
Strengths: The price is reasonable, the quality is above average
Weakness: none so far.
I tried both samsung hdmi dvd player and sony 70h dvd player. Somehow samsung is not compatible with my Sony 55 rear projection TV. The picture is so poor that I had to send it back to the manufacture 2 times for repair. Many people said both sony 70h & 90v are the same. But I tested both and I noticed that 90v shown better picture than 70h. I figure that it is only $30 more and why not buying a...
Strengths: Very good picture Quality Great Sound
Weakness: Silver color I wish there was black
I would recommended to anyone not wanting to spend more than $200.Great Video and Audio.I wish unit would come in black instead, but that is how most manufacture are making them now. Best Unit under $200 After 1 month I still enjoy this DVD palyer
Strengths: HDMI,component,5.1 channel hookups, upcovergence etc.
Weakness: The length of time before it failed.
I liked my Sony DVD player for watching movies. I purchased it in November 2005 and it lasted till December 2006. Now it will not longer play and it's out of warranty. Sony wants as much to fix it or buy a refurbished model as I can purchase another new one. If you buy this unit get an extended warranty.
Strengths: Compact, capable, lightweight chassis
Weakness: Sound?!
My unit's on the system (Carver gear, DQ-10s)less than a day. Wanted it more for the SACD/CD single play capability (don't watch things at home much). Will check cable connections carefully. Find the sound definitely not warm and rich in the midrange and bottom which surprises me given the modern DAC. May have misconnected things but doubt it. This device replaces a down-level single CD player...
Strengths: Setup, Use, HDMI, optical sound for receiver, upscale
Weakness: another remote that is unique, silver vs black, no HDMI cable
Lightweight, good price from Electronic Expo, PriceGrabber vendor. Setup quickly, produces a nice picture on my LG 32" HD TV. can't wait to hook to my 50" Sony HDTV. wish the Sony TV had HDMI. Great deal for the price, does what I want plus can upscale. this will hook into my Pioneer Elite 74 receiver very nicely. will add to comments after I have had this longer.

Sony DVP-NS90V DVD Player with HDMI
Strengths: Excellent picture quality with HDMI and excellent sound with optical out.
Weakness: None so far..
Nice picture quality with HDMI out that I have connected with DVI input projector..Also with price around $160. It has decoder built in. Also go SACD support for muti-channel audio support for future.
