I will recommend this samsung dvd up convert player versus to sony brand. This item got the latest chip and design is elegant. Also, I have no problem connection my Denon 5.1 Home Theater via HDMI. Easy Setup and the quality of the picture is far best to my old Toshiba DVD player. Dont hesitate on this product it's a great deal and solid performance.

Strengths: Fully HDMI compatible with my Mitsubishi 1080P set. Plug-n-play with no issues. The black cover and blue lights look great in my home entertainment center.

This DVD produces great pictures when upconverting to 1080i or 1080p thru HDMI. I have both the Component 480p and HDMI connected, so I can switch back and forth to check picture quality, and the difference is very evident. Well worth the $90 price.

Strengths: Quick load time, super crisp pictures, effective set up options, and syncs nicely with samsung TV (both functionally and fashionably)
Weakness: Locks up if too many buttons are pressed. Then needs to be restarted. Can't adjust the blue light effect like you can on the TV
