Strengths: Loud speakerphone. Intercom.
Weakness: Ni-Cad Battery. Becomes hot with prolong use.
This is a well-priced, and reliable phone. Reception is clear and is simple to use. Additional phones can be added easily and you do not need a phone jack in every room. The paging and intercom functions work well. I now have 3 phones using 2 lines on the system and so far no problems. Buy a replacement NiMH battery. The NiCad that comes standard takes too long to charge, gets hot and quickly...
Strengths: Has great signal. Very clear sound, no static like many cordless phones.
Weakness: Didn't like having to add phone numbers into memory on each handset. It would be nice to only add them once and they show up on all extensions.
This is my first time purchasing a VTech and this additional handset is great. It's very easy to connect to the base, just punch in a few numbers and you're done. I also like the fact that there are no phone jacks needed. Just plug into an outlet and you're good to go. I would definitely recommend this phone for purchase.
Strengths: Light weight; display is clean, clear, and sharp; battery has a good duration; handsfree operation; and comfortable to hold.
Weakness: I have not found any weaknesses yet.
This remote unit has all of the features of the base hand held unit. The display can be programmed to identify where a phone is supposed to be located. The ring tones can be changed for each remote unit so that no two units have the same tones. It is very easy to scroll through the numbers that have called the telephone and retrival of messages from a remote handset is a nice feature. The quality...
Strengths: This unit replaces a Siemens 2420. That system was very prone to interference. The new Vtech is excellent. Also more durable.
Weakness: Compared to the Siemen's the user interface is not as simple. Feature that is missing is auto line select.
My requirements were 2 line wireless phone with an answer machine. This unit fills the need. The software and unit design are a bit complicated. Buttons could be larger and better organized. Customizing how the phone will operate could also be simpler. Aside from not being usagable due to interference, the Siemens 2420's phycial design was more user friendly and the menuing setup very powerful....
Strengths: Great reception, great intercom system
Weakness: user interface(buttons, options) a bit cluttered
Great phone system. Easy to set up a phone "network" throughout a large area. I have (7) of these handsets and (1) 20-2481 base 2 line system. No additional phone jacks needed for the handsets just an electrical outlet. The intercom system lets individual handsets communicate "globally" or just to one other selected handset.

vtech 20-2420 - A really nice phone with 2 lines and...
Strengths: Lots of features (paging, conferencing, ability to name phones which is especially nice with multiple handsets - you page only the person/phone you want), easy to setup, comfortable to hold.
Weakness: some of the keys arent backlit..... strange that vtech gives you backlighting for use in darkness, but you end up turning on the lights anyway beause the key you need is not backlit....
I was sold on this phone very quickly due to its ease of use,and the excellent speaker phone (my wife sits the phone in the kitchen while cooking and when I talk to her she doesnt have to stay close to the phone and it functions great for the both of us... none of that annoying cancelling common with speakerphones). What really got me though was that I once left home with the phone (by accident)...
