The Balboa Center Speaker is capable of 300Watts peak and 75Watts RMS power handling. With a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms and sensitivity of 90dB, you’ll get high volume without sacrificing range or acoustical performance. The Balboa Center series has a frequency response of 80Hz-20kHz with an applied -3dB rating as well as a crossover frequency of 3500Hz. The highs of this 2-way speaker system are produced by a 3/4-inch shielded, Titanium-Laminate dome tweeter. The Low frequencies are taken care of by powerful Dual 5†shielded cone made of Pure-Cellulose Fiber. I've been a sound man for 25 years and use JBL speakers in my sound systems. Their quality and craftsmanship is hard to beat in my book. I definitely recommend these speakers to the beginner or pro.
Strengths: Great sound. Big improvement having a separate channel just for dialog.
Weakness: The exterior cabinet could be a little better looking. It looks a little cheap. Not bad for the price though.
I have been using JBL Northridge front speakers for several years now. Even though the Balboa is a different series it matches well and so I also purchased Balboa for the rear surrounds and these match great too.
Strengths: crisp, clear sound of voices. much better than we we had. Works nicely with 2 other JBL speakers.
Weakness: None noted.
I like the smooth resonance and clarity that it provides to my system. Mechanically. it was easy to hook up. When I turned it on, it filled the room with cfisp, clear sound.

Great speaker all in all, was crisp clear sound that is accpeted from JBL. Produces a lot of power which is important when using as a center for viewing movies. The center is the most important when using for a home theater system. Want to purchase the rest of the set to have the complete JBL experience.
