Sony RCD-W500C 5 Disc CD Player/Recorder
Strengths:  displays track titles; burns CDs; lots of features; relatively low price; Sony quality
Weaknesses:  no fast forward button
Review:  There is no fast forward button on the unit; there is only one on the remote. So you have to go find the remote if you want to skim through some songs. And if you lose or break the remote, you've lost that functionality altogether. The disk changing speed is fair. It is a little slower than the rotating platter style unit I used to have. Strengths:  Fairly easy to use. Does a great job of recording and recordings appear to me as very good quality.
Weaknesses:  None so far
Review:  I have used this recorder to transfer LP, Cassette and Reel to Reel to CD. Instructions are good but trend to emphasize digital vs analog recording. The quality of the recordings is excellent and after CD "finalization" play on any of my cd players including the one in my car. I am very happy with the quality and performance of this piece of equipment.

Strengths:  Ease of use. High Quality recording. Hard drive to cd in one machine is the way to go!
Weaknesses:  I can't get higher than a 44k sampling rate on the analogue inputs. Default mode setting of tracks in not manual. A little tricky to learn.
Review:  A nice machine. The recording are crisp and clear and of good quality with nice punch. However; if you want to use the analogue inputs, you can't get the really very high quality advertised. At least I couldn't, and I'm dubbing from excellent quality 1/2 track reel to reel. All the default settings are tuned more for the fan than the real professional (who would probably use a comp...
