Description
The AVIC-F90BT offers a new generation of voice recognition capability for controlling iPod playback and making calls hands-free via connected Bluetooth-enabled cell phones. Strengths: Fun toy.
Weakness: Sound quality sucks. NAV locks up.
I have had this unit for about 6 months. It is usable but often locks up, has annoying popups you have to click through while driving (thats dangerous), the sound quality sucks, and thats about it. Its a great concept that just hasn't arrived yet. Its been a fun toy. I'd rather have my money and my old cd player back. Skip this one. Its not there yet.
The Pioneer AVIC-F90BT is a dashboard built in navigation device that is not just a GPS device. It offers features like voice recognition for iPod playback and hands-free calling, bluetooth connection for cell phones, conversational phrase recognition, MSN direct tuner, 3D landmarks, Mobile Media, 800 x 480 pixel display, and will play DVDs. The last feature is not necessarily a good one. It also...

Great potential... but falls very short...
Strengths: Awesome GUI interface High resolution When it works, it works GREAT! Sound from 4.0V pre-outs is very good
Weakness: Crash, lock-up, hang, freeze... Get used to this system's bugs, strange quirks, and SLOW startup times. Slow startup Navi lockups
Needless to say, the AVIC F-series are plagued with problems. Perhaps Pioneer will get it right with their next 2009/2010 lineup, but for now, please avoid this product. I had it up and working in about 1 hour, but then the sadness began: all the things people said would happen -- happened: it locked, froze, it would reboot, and the voice control just stopped working. However, when it did work...
