Strengths: Many nav. features, excellent ipod control, easy to bypass. Touchscreen works great. Sound and staging is great!
Weakness: None yet. Some would probably care that it does not include a remote, but I never use them.
The Avic-D3 is a fantastic product. The on-screen ipod control is great, even better when set up as per tips on avic411.com I also have a rearview camera hooked up w/ nightvision. It was an extremely easy install, although I decided not to hook up the VSS wire for warranty purposes. Overall this is a great headunit/navi system/display!
Strengths: Lots of POI, great ipod and xm radio links, Colorful, easy navigation through maps and audio sources
Weakness: Small Clock, parking break must be on to do some searches in navigation mode and to watch DVD
This unit works great as a music player and as a navigation system. I did not change my speakers and it sounds great. Fit perfectly in an
Strengths: Reasonably good features.
Weakness: There is no reason in this day and age new maps could not be downloaded without carrying around a CD. The interface is particularly bad.
I very often find myself turning to my Verizon Wireless phone GPS because the location I am looking for cannot be found with the Pioneer (and I don't have to carry around a CD to do it). Almost all portable units I know of have built-in and upgradable maps. I accidently left my navigation CD in a music case (it has to be removed to play a music CD) and left it in the house on a trip to LA. Of...
Strengths: lots of POI, very good directions, great ipod interface, lots of rca preouts, bluetooth capable with accessory, able to use with steering wheel interface controller
Weakness: is a little bit slow in telling you when to turn left or right when you approach it if you are traveling at freeway speeds. cannot watch dvd while car is in motion unless you bypass it
This little navigation system is one of the sexiest looking replacements for your plaid factory headunit. The ipod interface on this gadget is next to wonderful. You can control your ipod directly from the navi screen BUT it can be a little distracting to do while driving. You can scroll through your artists, but it takes a while if you have a big list of artists. You must purchase the ipod cable...

NICE UNIT BUT...
Strengths: Bulit in DVD plater, Bluetooth and iPod ready.
Weakness: Smaller LCD screen than the D2
My experience with the D3: -INSTALLATION-I installed the D3 in my 05 Pathfinder. The overall process was ok except that I had to use a set of different screw holes other than the ones suggested on the mounting brackets. If not a considerable gap (almost ½ inch) was going to be shown between the dashboard trim and the front end of the unit. This also helped ease the tension on the wiring harness...
