Strengths: Easy to use, it's handleable, it has all the function that useable for engineering professionals and college students.
Weakness: Nothing as far as I know.
The titanium version has 3 times the memory of TI-89 (2.5+MB) for about the same price. Staples had another $20 rebate. It is the most advanced powergraphing calculator allowed in SAT I & II. The button layout is logical and very easy to use, specially if you owned a previous Texas Instruments advanced calculator. Battery life may be a bit short, so load fresh batteries if you are taking this...
Strengths: easy to use, easy to read display, easy to copy commands
Weakness: none that I'm aware of, still learning it
I'm and engineering student and this calculator is perfect for all my math needs. It's probably overkill for high school math or business applications. It has similar capabilities to the HP-49 g+, although I hear the HP has a few functions that the TI doesn't. We've had head to head integration speed tests with the TI and HP and the TI wins every time. The TI can do a few complicated integrals...
Strengths: All the functionality of the TI-92 without the bulk of the QWERTY keyboard. Lots of user-accessible RAM. User-customizable menus.
Weakness: None.
I bought this calculator when it was first released in the Spring of 1999 (I think). As a high school student, its best initial feature was plenty of memory (for games, of course). As I used it for actual math, I found that it was a terrific time-saver. As opposed to giving all of its answers in decimal form, it will give answers in fraction/complex fraction form (you can change a setting to give...
Strengths: Does everything i could want. Protable
Weakness: Price. Visual Design
It's a good calc. Plus the ability to have that much power in a portable device is great. But condidering a computer/pda's are getting smaller, cheaper, and faster it doesn't seem like the calculator buisness is keeping up in this regard. If you need protability.... buy this... if you just need to run numbers... buy a computer.
Strengths: Very powerful, 3D graphs, includes USB cable, calculus, nice UI
Weakness: Difficult to learn to use
I went from a TI 83+ to an 89. The upgrade is huge. The 89 can do calculus and save me plenty of time doing homework. If you do not plan on going through many calculus courses, this calculator is unnecessary. However in my engineering courses, this calculator has come in handy many times. I can easily check over my work and make sure I integrate correctly for example.
Strengths: Excellent graphing functions
More power than previous versions of TI graphing calculators. Easy on battery use. Price is comprable to other graphing calculators available on market. I would recommend buying for use in advance math classes for high school or college
Strengths: Every necessary math function. Customizable. Great Battery life. User friendly.
Weakness: None.
This calculator was an amazing tool to have in High School math and for all of my courses in college. It is very powerful and user friendly. It allows you to customize menus, write programs, save information. The battery life is amazing and it is extremely durable. I still use it to this day. I am no longer doing any high level mathematics, but the simple fact that it remembers my last 80...
Strengths: Very powerful hand held device
Weakness: TI should supply a connection cable between TI-89 to PC.
The TI89 has basically all the features needed for mathematics study. It not only has all kind of math functions, it also can do the programing.
Strengths: Greatest calculator. Most powerful It provide differentiate and integrate which is useful for my lecture. the graphing speed is very very fast.
Weakness: only expensive and heavy
It is the Greatest calculator i see. if you decide to buy ti 86 or ti 89, i'll suggest you buy ti 89. Because it has much much more function than ti 86
The TI-89 is a popular graphing calculator made by Texas Instruments, originally released in 1998. It features powerful computer algebra system (CAS) that can solve albebraic expressions in symbolic terms; most other calculators solve in terms of number only. For example, entering (x^3-x^2-8x+12)/(x+3) returns x2 − 4x + 4, which is pretty printed by default. The current version of the...

Texas Instruments TI-89 Graphing Calculator
Strengths: easily handle many functions that normally TI83 or even 83 plus could not solve
Weakness: have to go through the manual to start using some advance functions
this is the second ti89 that i have owned so i pretty much learned all the functions well before.., i would recommend this calc over any other brand such as HP or Casio because of its ease of use and intutitive design!
