Strengths: I love everything about it. I had the ti-83 and it is great that the key strokes are the same. It is faster and the periodic table is so much help for me in chemistry. Also the screen seems clearer.
Weakness: Some times the white on the grey buttons is hard to see. Otherwise I love it.
Along with the strengths above it is also much faster. The applications that it came with are very helpful. I found this calculator NEW at BestBuy for $100 cheaper then what I had payed for the ti-83. I m a secondary education major with a minor in mathematics. I think Every Math Student should have an ti-84 whether it be plus silver or just plus.
Strengths: Memory / USB / Periodic Table / Nicer (Overall)
Weakness: Not usable for some tests or classes. Nowhere close to the power of the TI-89.
The TI-84 PLUS Silver Edition Graphing Calculator is a "dressed-up" version of the TI-83. The features do warrant the price, but only if you are going to use it. For a little more money than the TI 83, the TI 84 Silver offers a nicer, bigger screen with better resolution. This calculator will be able to satisfy the average high schooler. Nothing fancy, has almost the same quality as the TI-83+. Durable, doesn't have any effect if dropped numerous times. Recommended for normal day usage. Just be careful not to lose this since it is a bit on the pricy side.

I can't honestly rate this product as I bought it as a gift for my 16 yr old granddaughter. She absolutely loved it. So I would have to rate it high.

Strengths: Many functions, expanded memory, can use for all my college entrance exams.
