Description
Amplified Indoor Antenna: The TV5 features a fully adjustable, low-noise amplifier, that is designed to optimize signal strength for any location. TERK's patented amplifier bypass allows stronger local stations to bypass the amplifier entirely, preventing over-modulation and ensuring successful reception of the maximum number of available channels. Built-In Video Selector Switch: The TV5 offers the added convenience of a built-in video selector switch, creating a one cable solution for a video game, DVD player, VCR or other video component. With just a push of a button, you can now switch between TV and another video source without having to disconnect and reconnect any wires.

Strengths: GREAT reception,
Weakness: sometimes you have to adjust direction of elements for certain channels
This is a great antenna! I did have a amplified antenna before and it simply did not work well. with the TERK TV5 I get amazing signal strength on all the channels i got before plus 1 more channel that I couldn't get before. I think the secret is not only the fact that it has 40db of gain but it is a low noise amplifier.
Strengths: FINALLY, something that does what it advertises, right out of the box
Weakness: the square antenna band takes a bit more lateral "real estate", but for the good reception I'm getting, its worth it
Someone gave me an old style antennae with a booster attachment and it worked OK, but it required radical adjustment for certain channels, then during a surgical recovery period, I paid for cable for a couple of months, but when I had the cable turned off, I couldn't get the old boosted antennae to restore the usual network (ABC, CBS, NBC, PAX, PBS, UPN AND WB{local}) reception. So did some...
Strengths: Design is relatively sleek & compact; provides clear reception for some channels; reasonably priced.
Weakness: Both antenna assembly and gain knob need indicators to provide a definite reference point, allowing for more precise and consistent adjustment.
First it must be noted that in all fairness, this unit is being evaluated on its own merits; it may be that its performance is far better than a basic rabbit-ears antenna. It's being used on a new TV in a new location, so I can't compare performance to a previous antenna. It seems well-constructed and designed, EXCEPT for the lack of visual or tactile indicators on the antenna assembly and...
Strengths: Strong HD signals from all local stations
Weakness: None
When I purchased the HDTVi model some HD stations came out choppy. Having read a lot of positive reviews on Terk TV5, I decided to give it a try. I was really surprised by the performance of this antenna. I live on a wooded area where Direct TV cannot get a line of sight! Our COX cable carries only 2 local HD stations. Now I can watch CBS,NBC,ABC,FOX,UPN,PBS and WB in high def, no problems with...
Strengths: Great amplification - 40 dB Low profile - 5.5" tall
Weakness: For an indoor antenna - NONE.
This is a great indoor antenna. I live in a neighborhood where there is no available cable TV service and I don't qualify to receive local networks with DirecTV (go figure). I went through 3 or 4 other antennas before I was recommended this one. This antenna at least makes all of the networks watchable, while one outdoor antenna that I tried wouldn't even pick up a signal for CBS. Unlike...
Strengths: Easy set-up, gets good reception
Weakness: none
This was easy to set up and does a much better job than the $15 rabbit ears I had been using - I get halfway decent reception of channels I never got before, and much clearer reception of channels I could get but not that well. I'm glad I got it.
Strengths: Works as described. Amplified. Product height doesn't take up as much space vertically.
Weakness: Product width takes up some space due to the squarish antenna.
Quick and easy install. I was able to pull in 9 HD channels with the Terk TV5 vs. 6 with a normal rabbit ear antenna. I live 10 miles from a major city (Washington DC). After a couple days I returned the antenna because I didn't like how the square shaped antennas took up some much space (also mentioned in another review here). Product is good if you have the space for it.
Strengths: FINALLY, something that does what it advertises, right out of the box
Weakness: the square antenna band takes a bit more lateral "real estate", but for the good reception I'm getting, its worth it
Someone gave me an old style antennae with a booster attachment and it worked OK, but I had to adjust it between channels, then during a surgical recovery I used cable for a couple of months and when I had the cable turned off I couldn't get the old boosted antennae to restore the usual network (ABC, CBS, NBC, PAX, PBS, UPN AND WB{local}) reception. So did some research booster antennaes and...
Strengths: Price 39-59$ (mine 47$), Assembly, Performance
Weakness: NONE
If you are reading this review, then pat yourself on the back for doing your homework. More than likely you are in the market for an Off-Air HD antenna. So lets cut to the chase, if you find a better performing product for the price, then by all means get it. I live deep in backwoods-town USA A.K.A Raleigh, NC. so we are long on Tobacco and short on good sense. (skuse da brown chewing tobacco...

Strengths: Easy setup, reasonable signal, low profile
Weakness: Quite wide.
I'm using the TV5 for OTA HDTV in Boston, MA. Generally performs as advertised. Very sensitive to direction. Ironically, I'm picking up RI signals for major networks rather than local Boston signals. Likely related to geography. Unit functions exactly as advertised, got a great price at B&H photo with quick shipping. Recommended. Can't give a fair comparison with other antennae, because I haven't...
