I recently got satellite TV but I still needed an antenna to receive over-the-air local stations in high definition. I was initially using rabbit-ear antennaes but decided to try the Terk TV44. Weakness: poor reception when obstructed.
Great concept! What else could you ask for. A small clip-on antenna the size of your dish. Unfortunately, it does not work very well with tall buildings and trees. It should be ok for those you live in unobstructed areas with good line-of-sight. If you don't mind having a regular old fashion antenna on your roof, don't even waste your time with this one.

Weakness: Poor VHF reception NO UHF reception
I don't have any HD capabilities, so I can't say how that works. I know that I should be able to receive about 8 channels in my local area, but I can only see two of them, and both of them come in very poorly. I can't see UHF stations at all. Maybe the UHF stations would come in if I could aim it better, but it is attached to the dish, so there is no way to aim it. I'll be returning this to Radio...

Better off with a powered HDTV antenna! This one only picks up one local station. Stations are not powerful to begin with so that might be more of a problem than the antenna itself...

Strengths: Simple to mount, eliminates the need for an additonal house or pole mounted antenna, somewhat inconspicuous, better reception than most indoor HDTV antennas
Weakness: Fair reception overall, little ability to adjust for better reception, user needs to be reasonably competent to make hookups using multiswitches and diltiplexers
Purchasing an antenna to pull down off-the-air HDTV signals is not for the timid. I've purchased and exchanged no less than 6 different models, starting with the indoor antennas and ranging presently to this model.
